Do not buy a Garmin that requires this app for traffic

Do not buy a Garmin that depends on this app for traffic information. Every time I turn off the GPS, I have to repeat the sync process to reconnect. Furthermore, the traffic accuracy is poor. If you own a Garmin and want reliable traffic info, it’s best to run Google Maps simultaneously with your Garmin. Shame on Garmin for not fixing this long-standing problem.

Ever since the 2.9 update the app constantly disconnects from the GPS...I’ve used this app for years and this is the first time I’ve experienced this, it’s very frustrating! Garmin has to correct this, in a 1 hour commute I have to reconnect the app an average of 3 times. Not good...

Headphones???

Could not even try the app on my Garmin Zumo 390. Paired the app with my phone and my Garmin disconnects because there is no headphones. I must not understand the purpose of the app.

You say you have an update to fix the connectivity issues. Where is the dang update?

After the last update (2.9.2) the app now stays connected to my Garmin GPS RV 770. With the stable connection I could then see if the app provides value while driving. The answer, so far, is yes. The GPS checked traffic ahead on the route and suggested a time saving detour. As a comparison, we had Google Maps and Waze also open and they suggested the same detour. The integration into the GPS is helpful, especially if I was driving alone.

Connected the first time. Then refused to connect no matter what I tried. The short time it worked the traffic function didn’t seem to do anything as I had Google Maps running on another device next to it. It drained the battery on my phone in an hour. Apple Maps and Google Maps don’t do that. Uninstalled.

It worked well in the past, today it is useless

I installed the Smart Link app several years ago for the sole purpose of pushing my iPhone contacts into it. It was the ONLY one that worked this way. I haven’t used this function for awhile so I was surprised to find that it no longer works! Today, July 2018 with Apple IOS 11.4, it will not send contacts to Garmin unit. Very sorry to see this happen. Garmin, will you please, please fix???
