Once linked, the nüvi uses your existing mobile data plan* to share information with your iPhone, including contacts, search results, favorite locations, your driving destination, and even your parking spot. With Smartphone Link, your nüvi can also access Garmin Live Services** for useful, real-time driving information.
Live Services for Real-Time Information

Woefully inadequate design, amateurish execution

Shameful for a company like Garmin to release an app with such limited functionality as this. Even the stuff the app is supposed to do is more than a decade lagging in operational completeness. I’ve pretty much concluded Garmin is a totally hardware oriented company that believes that’s good enough for success. Sadly, it isn’t, as any customer of their HE quickly discovers how limited it is in utility. Until Garmin realizes its woeful deficiency in software and puts real effort to into fixing it, its market will be limited to an ever-decreasing number unhappy first-time buyers only.

Long story short, it’s good when it works. It has to be reinstalled a lot for it to work as I have trouble half the time with pairing.
Not stable and lack of basic functionality

You cannot create a route and send it to the GPS using this app. The app disconnects randomly. The search feature will not return location that are a bit further from you (e.g. doesn’t found lake placid, NY when you are in NYC).

This app is amazing for truck drivers!!! I can sent the location ( delivery and pick up ) directly from my iPhone to gps ! Developers please improve this part of app ( sent location from sms phone to gps) . right now i need to introduce the map coordinates in app for search tehe location. wil be smarter if it will work directly with adress

This app is so disappointing. Interface reminds me if early 2000’s apps So pale and lack of options. I’m seeing many low star reviews from 2 yrs ago and instead of doing anything, they only answer with here’s our email or we’ll do our best to fix the issues but nothing happens. I understand you guys are focusing on the new hype of smart watches where that’s your biggest seller but come on. Each navigator we buy is $450. If you won’t do anything about it then there’s no reason you should display your products at truck stops any more. Fix the app. Update it.

This app is terrible. Extremely low tech and won’t stay connected to my BMW NAV. Garmin products for BMWs are terrible. The NAV VI is junk!! Google maps is crushing garmin. I hope garmin goes out of business so I won’t waste any more time or money on their crappy products.

Have been trying to link/setup w my iPhone and bmw Motorhead Nav Vl system to no avail. I can’t believe garmen is this shotty. Virtually impossible to sink and even as a stand alone it’s bad. Oh well
Constant disconnection

iPhone 12 Pro Max and this App will just not stay connected to my phone for traffic and weather updates while driving. Becoming more of hassle than it’s worth for the updates. Wish garmin would fix the iPhone version of this app.
