Killing Battery

KingAirkilla

App is staying open somehow after force closing in my iPhone. Keeps draining my battery

Failed during a check ride

BlakeAdR

Used this app days before my check ride, the day of it began to have problems opening. I would have to delete and redownload the app the fix the issue. But @5000agl that isn’t an option for me. Luckily I had a backup android device that worked with FltPln.com

Good app, bad bug resolution and tech support

canastl

Can’t click an airport and get weather, airport info, etc. as I could in previous versions. Just get the spinning wheel. This used to work fine. After 9.4.1 it no longer works. Garmin aviation support acknowledged the spinning wheel issue in 9.4.1 and customer service/tech support first told me on 8/13/18 the issue was fixed “3 hours ago” and to check again after rebooting. Did that and called in again when the spinning wheel wasn’t resolved. Next agent tells me the issue is fixed with the latest update. I hang up and check the App Store - 9.4.1 is the latest, problem is still occurring. Next agent I speak to, states I have to uninstall and reinstall. Cool. No problem. I have “just” enough time to do that before my scheduled departure. Do that, and guess what... Still have the spinning wheel. Pretty disappointed that basic functionality has been broken for so long now. I originally thought maybe I had an LTE coverage issue or something but nope. This is happening on my iPhone and iPad while connected to LTE, Wireless and my brand new GDL52.... spent a lot money investing in the now broken Garmin Pilot ecosystem of products. Thankfully still within my return window to return the GDL52 to Sporty’s and go to Foreflight.

Radial menu problem

Bonhamb

Great app... but, this morning the radial menu quit working on my iPad and iPhone... possible problem with the recent update? Not sure where to go for support?

Great EFB

BMarkman98

I have used this app for two months now and it has been great. Like all of Garmin's products, there is good support, the product is intuitive and easy to use, the colors are vivid and the fetchers are awesome. I am just downloading the latest version today, I am sure I will not be disappointed. Update 08/15/18 I’ve used the app for years, and they continue to improve and add valuable features. One of the only complaints is lack of echo tops, this is the biggest pain in the you know what to have to look outside the app for this info, or not have it at all while relying solely on GP. Please help Garmin!

Garmin Pilot is great

justingraff

I have used it for at least 6 years. Great app. Constantly improving it. Has always had better map readability than ForeFlight, and even with FF’s improved vector based maps Garmin Pilot still is superior. Too numerous to count features. ADS-B weather and traffic works great. I like that they generally add features without adding multiple pricing levels. The only weak area in my opinion is the weather briefing which still just gives an DAA standard briefing, and is the sole reason I keep my ForeFlight subscription. I suspect ForeFlight will improve the preflight weather brief in the future. It even works with my flight simulator that I use to practice instrument approaches.

disappointed with new fis-b icing

Icing information provided free via fis-b not available unless you pay Garmin $75 more to upgrade? You already get $75/year from me. Disappointed.

Thanks for nothing Garmin

Updated Garmin Pilot in iPhone. Got in the air. Got a message stating “setting up GaminPilot 1/3” and needed WiFi connection. Great unusable when needed. On the ground now, connected to WiFi, and the same message, even after rebooting the uPhone. Wondering if Foreflight is the way to go, or am I just wrongly angry that I expect the GPS app to work. Same issue in the air with the iPad, but it set up on the ground after connecting to WiFi. I can’t believe a Garmin update does not go to completion. I’m glad I take my 496 with me.

Not great for VFR planning

Bulle72

I have used runwayHD and SkyDemon and for VFR flying and planning they are far superior, versatile and easy to use than the Garmin App. The simple process of importing and exporting a route between any other app (which is possible on all other apps) is not possible with the Garmin Pilot App. From a user experience point of view the interface is poor. I am disappointed as I have recently installed Garmin equipment in my helicopter and was hoping for an easier integration. They have a closed system approach. One can only hope for improvements ...
