Catching up to Foreflight

Truly yours.

For the most part GP is easy to use and a good deal of pertinent information is presented. It is easy to read and thus far I have found it to be very reliable. One of its strongest features is the coordination between an iPad and a Garmin cockpit. I would like it to follow closer to Foreflight where it comes to departures, arrivals, and easily accessible runway heading information (not just runway 03, but 034 degrees, etc), as this information is buried and in some cases not available at all. Overall, Garmin Pilot is a very good product and I will continue to use it.

Love it but...

Great app, have been using it for a while and it is an excellent tool! Having said that I live in Guatemala and there are a lot of map issues and waypoints that are in the wrong place, would love to be able to edit them and have them be in their correct place also be able to add airports that are not in the database, private runways. Aside from this love the app!! Hope you can fix the issues

Freezes occasionally while trying to view weather and then won’t open

A little concerning that an aviation app freezes/crashes so frequently. Called support and they told me to use the Restart Option (in main iPad settings) “Switch to Map Page” as a workaround to get it out of the freeze. This worked, but after doing so, the map settings I selected were reset to default and turns out the app “backup” that it does doesn’t include these settings (so restoring the backup is worthless) so I have to redo these every time I have to reboot the app with these settings.

Can’t imagine needing more

Beyond expectations in what it does.

Doesn’t beat Foreflight vector maps are worthless

I have been a long time user of both Garmin and Jeppesen. Things I like, easy flight plan changed when IFR that can be quickly sent to my gps. There things I don’t like: VFR vector maps do not have topo lines. Also VFR corridors available on TACs through class B are not available anywhere. Jeppesen VFR vector maps not available. Things I don’t like about the IFR maps: Garmin vector maps are worthless. No minimum crossing altitude points available, no VOR radial information for victor airways, MEA’s missing on some victor airways, (these are the ones I know of) and Jeppesen IFR maps not available, only the approach plates are available.

The one-star reviews are good for a laugh.

They read like they were written by The Hulk. “App bad, Hulk smash.” I have been using Pilot without a single issue for three years. Garmin should have Billy D. Williams be their spokesman, because it works every time. Reading the manual probably helps, too.

Poor logbook reports and more

JPizzel DoJJ

Please, improve your logbook reports, it’s almost impossible to print the legit logbook for an interview. Thanx for 2018 iPad Pro Screen support! Needs to be added: *TEC routes in flight planning **Apple watch support ***Access NOTAMS faster, maybe thru radial menu ****Ability to bookmark relevant pages in chart supplement *****Ability to print the legit logbook for checkride or interview ******KHHR is still showing awkward airspace on VFR map (very dangerous for pilots not familiar with LAX!!) that penetrates the LAX bravo! *******Missing a lot of stadium TFRs (Stub Hub Stadium), I can find them even thru SkyVector Please improve

Unreliable

Dr. Nick

During an instrument flight yesterday, this app crashed every 15 seconds. Approach plates could not be loaded as a result. Upon contacting product support, I was told: “it’s an app, it’s going to crash.“ Think twice before depending on this app to get you through anything but a clear VFR day. Apparently, there is a known glitch in the software with the iPad 3 running the current iOS.

Great app

I’d give it 5 stars, but from time to time it refuses to launch on the iPad Pro.

Buggy in a place it can’t afford to be

I spent a couple of hours editing checklists tonight only to have Garmin Pilot randomly delete them on the completion of a “checklist sync.” Super disappointing.
