Missing vital feature

winkywonkymommy

Since there are many items missing from the database of rated products, I would like an option to search the ingredients. Say I am looking to buy a soap, it is not yet in the EWG database, so I send in a picture of the item. I would also like to browse the ingredient list and if I see something I am unsure about, I would love the ability to type that ingredient in and see how it scores.

The scanner doesn’t work

MeanLeanGreenBean

The barcode scanner simply does not work. I’ve used lots of apps that have barcode scanners so I’m not sure why EWG can’t develop a version that works.

Not working

My scanner doesn’t work and hardly any of the products I search come up. I really want this app to work.

I live what EWG does and their online resources have been such useful and healthy educational tools over the years. As for this app, the concept is great but the execution not so much. The barcode database doesn’t pull up almost any product (food or personal care) and I can’t even search individual ingredients although it says “powered by Skin Deep” on the home screen. I’ll be deleting this app again for awhile. Hope they figure out a way to increase the crossover from web to app to the point where the app is useful everyday. It’s such a good idea!

Scanner hasn’t worked in months

12/14/19 This would be a great app if not for the following problems: 1) scanner hasn’t worked for months so it is not quick and easy to use 2) the healthy products I see advertised and available on Amazon are rarely in the database 3) problem #2 could be mitigated if I could search for specific ingredients Someone please get EWG some money so they can make this app the “go-to” product for people with autoimmune conditions, cancer, allergies and sensitivities!

Limited Function

Fantastic idea, but unfortunately the app just doesn’t work very well. Scanner doesn’t work. Product listings very limited and not updated. Clumsy information presentation. Would love it if easier to use. Without the scanner working, it’s useless as a real-time shopping aide. Takes WAY too long to type in a product and 8/10 the product is not in the database.

Bad scanner

I would probably love it if the scanner worked!!

Scanner rarely works

Carlita shamika

The scanner has worked for me in the past but lately doesn’t work at all. It doesn’t tell me the product can’t be found; it just doesn’t seem to register the bar code (not on an odd shaped package, shiny surface, or anything like that). Perhaps that could be fixed, but also it would be helpful if users could type in the upc.

Nice Idea, Terrible Execution

Cnnjunkie

The search function on this app is atrocious. I love having the database, but when you can’t find anything what’s the point? Basic searches for products and brands don’t come up with any results when I know for a fact the brands are listed. Please fix the search function!!!

Needs improvement

Great when it works. Search is awful and have to try many options before I get a hit, but it seems data seems is lacking many items. Hangs many times when scanning and completely locks up when I take a picture to submit a new item.
