I just downloaded this app because I like the idea of it (apparently it’s only fantastic in theory), so I started scanning everything from lotion, to mouthwash, to spices, to seasonings, to ingredients (sucralose), a can of peaches, peanut butter, etc. I got ONE barcode scan to get a result. It was for my astringent and the ratings didn’t seem accurate. I hope they eventually get this going with the ability to add products, but right now it’s of no use to me.

No info with scanner/ downloading freezes page

No product that I tried had any information when I used the scanner. I had to manually type the information in and scroll through all of the possibilities to pinpoint my product. Also, when finally reaching the product, when I selected that product to review the details, this apps download feature cost of the entire page to freeze. Because of both of these issues, this app is essentially useless for me.

I downloaded this app after seeing it on KUWTK. Everything I tried to scan said it wasn’t in the system. I tried tide pods, arm and hammer dryer sheets, numerous Mrs. Meyers products and nothing worked.

I love the concept of this app and for the things it can scan, it’s helpful. But there aren’t many products (food and cosmetics) that are in the system to scan. 90% of the things I scan weren’t in the app so it was kinda frustrating. But I loved the results when it could scan!

It’s okay, not very accurate

I scanned a few items and I like the convenience. However, it’s missing some common products and has incorrect information for other items. I scanned one of my soap bottles and the ingredients list is nowhere close to being what is supposed to be in this soap. I wish there was an option to request updates or additions to the database.

I heard about this app from someone I follow on Instagram who swears by it. I downloaded it to try it out and none of the products I’ve scanned are in the system. I can’t even use the app to give it a proper rating.

Love the EWG and all the work they do!! So thankful for them!! My biggest complaints about this app are: 1) Nowhere in the app does it give you a breakdown of what exactly all the colors/grades mean. There is a separate website with a breakdown, but there is no link to this site from the app that I was able to find. 2) There is no way to submit feedback (about glitches/bugs or suggestions), and no way to ask questions. Which is why I’m putting this in a review instead of sending it directly to them. 3) When I try to sign up for their emails, I type in my email address and zip code, as required, but when I hit the sign up button, it takes me to a page that says the page “no longer exists.” Otherwise, great app! Love that they are always adding new brands and items! Keep it up EWG!!!

Good, but needs work

I like this app a lot but it’s a lot of work. The scanner has never once worked for me. I have to type the name of the product in absolutely perfectly otherwise I don’t get any results. Even keywords don’t show related products with the name in it. I love the concept and I hope that eventually this gets even better.

Love the idea, execution needs work

I really love what EWG is trying to do with this app but they have a long way to go. My biggest issue is that the database is lacking so many brands and products, especially ones that are marketing themselves as healthier, safer options. I’ve also had many technical issues with this app: freezing and timing out being the biggest issue. Hopefully EWG can keep improving this app because I really love the concept!
