Great Library

Jen4faith

This is a great library. I especially like the audio book feature available on some books. Also, it is user friendly and has extra features like highlighting ability and book marks.

Limit

It was an amazing app when you could get as many books a month as possible. Now you get three books and one audiobook. I go through an audiobook a day and ten books a month so it's far too limiting and expensive now. At $8.99/mo, you could just buy several cheap books from all the books in the world (instead of their selection-though it is great) so it no longer has much of a point as an app. It is also very glitchy lately and takes up lots of storage if you don't want to use data all the time.

Promises unlimited audiobooks and doesn't deliver

I signed up for scribd I think about a year ago when you paid monthly to read and listen to an unlimited number of books. Now, scribd has moved to the same system as audible where you get a credit per month to use on audiobooks and 3 credits for any ebook. Scribd also advertises that there is a select library of audiobooks that are free as well. My main beef is that the "unlimited" books is just a library of librivox titles and a handful of temporarily free books. Currently mockingjay is free for example. BUT scribd makes it almost impossible to browse (or find anything) in the unlimited listening category. On their own website, these are the actual instructions: tap search, type audiobooks, tap on audiobooks filter, tap on "unlimited only" filter. Then you have to scroll through a butt ton of librivox titles (that are free anywhere else too) to find an occasional crappy audiobook with one star. It's an atrocious system. If they actually fixed it I would be happier, but if they ever did fix it, their weak library of "unlimited" listening books would be laid bare for all to see its crappiness. I hate when companies rope you in with a great offer, then change the rules - that is what scribd has done.

Laggy and poor design

magpiecheek

I got this app a few moments ago, and unlike other people, I'm not disappointed with the price—it prices out to around $2.25 a thing, which is significantly less than the cost of a book (unless you find it at a thrift store). The lag time when I tried to read the sample of a book, however, was ridiculous. The file wouldn't even open for ten minutes and then I couldn't turn the pages. In terms of design, I found it frustrating to try and find a book to sample. None of the "new" titles are actually new. Also they all seemed really uninteresting. Only three titles piqued my interest, so I wish there was a better way for the app to make recommendations. When Scribd first launched the subscription model, it was touted as the Netflix of books, but on Netflix, there's a section that asks for you to rate a bunch of titles. Scribd really needs to swipe this feature before it can be really useful.

Doesn't remember your spot...

Basic, fundamental feature of any reading app is that it remembers where you left off. One or two updates ago they "fixed" this which, ironically, actually broke it. Chances are you were forced to download this to read something anyway. Some books you can change font, some you can't and appear to just be PDFs, but I don't understand why you can't change to subdued colors on those. Keep trying guys!

Broken! Beware!

ScribdSucks

App has been broken since update to latest iOS and developers refuse to fix or respond. Impossible to use for more than a few minutes, it freezes up after browsing or trying to read anything.

Very good reader

Chuckart99

I signed up to read the Valiant comics reboot which I'm thoroughly enjoying. The app is a very nice way to read comics.
