Hate the latest version

So I’ve been using the digital version since it became available years ago. It was a great representation of what a digital magazine should be. This update has made the user experience horrible. It doesn’t remember the last page I was on, photos are blurry if I enlarge them, it appears that I have to buy an issue even though I have a subscription, etc. This version is more of a downgrade rather than an upgrade. Boo Hiss to the app developers and their ideas of what better means. Bring back the old interface!

This new app is TERRIBLE. my print issues are arriving before the digital one shows available. It used to be every Friday like clockwork. Now I never know when the digital issue will be available. Big step backward.

I think this might be the worst "update" to an app that I've ever seen. Avoid downloading this latest version until you are completely done with the older issues in your library just to stave off the impending vitriol a bit longer.

What happened? This new "upgrade" is the worst experience I have ever had with an app. The old app worked fine. This new one is a terrible experience. I just tried to open it 4 times. Each time it crashed. I can't imagine how much effort it must have taken to make it this bad. I would give it zero stars if I could.

Whoever EW put in charge of the app design and user experience on the latest release of this app has no idea what they’re doing. The navigation makes no sense anymore, it’s not even clear how to download new issues. I find myself just clicking around and changing views until a download button appears. You can’t even go to the next page in an issue without an alert an the top telling you to swipe down for reader view. On every. Single. Page. EW had an enjoyable app before this release that made me look forward to Saturday mornings reading EW on my iPad with a cup of coffee. Way to screw it up! My subscription runs out in 6 months and I’m getting weekly emails to renew. If this app is indicative of what EW thinks its readers deserve and they don’t put out an update that makes it significantly better soon, I’ll probably let my subscription lapse after many years.

I warn every long time subscriber to download the new version of the app. Not only is the user experience (download time, no “my library tab” anymore, overall quality) very poor but as a subscriber you will not get all your old issues back. As reported, some of them will require payment even if there were paid as part of your subscription. Please EW give us the old version of the app back.

Notice all the negative reviews since app upgrade?! Obviously someone dropped the ball! This has made a once great app a disaster! Please bring back old app! I agree with all the negative reviews as a long time subscriber. Whoever de eloped his mess should be fired on the spot as well a third boss!

EW and People Have Gone Downhill

What the heck happened to Entertainment Weekly and People magazine? The latest updates made both these apps worthless. I cancelled my People subscription and will cancel EW soon. The images, if they load, are blurry. I can’t leave the app and come back to the same page. I have to scroll through the entire magazine to get to where I left off! There used to be digital only content. Not anymore. Horrible app. Both People and EW need to fix these issues ASAP before they lose more customers.

Seriously? You want to tell me “swipe up for reader version” ON EVERY SINGLE PAGE? I got it the first time. Talk about sucking the joy out of reading. Please allow us to disable it.

Terrible Update

Thanks for the ability to use landscape orientation, but everything else about the IPad app is a wreck. Can't access my back issues (not even read yet) or the latest one. Download speed extremely slow, photos don't download clearly. I am a long time subscriber who came to rely on digital version, but this will be my last subscription. And one more thing - the number of useless double issues has gotten ridiculous. Why do we pay extra for your week off from publishing? Hope this can be fixed soon.
