Review update: Still a Lovely game in 2021, but STILL doesn't play fair

2021 update. Played this for the first time in years. Some things have changed. Learned that it has a new dev (Jam City, with whom one must create an account to save their progress, particularly if you delete and reinstall the game for whatever reason- no thank you), and you can unlock lots of news outfits and or powers for the characters (Snow Queen/Nature Spirit Elsa, yay!), but some things- like the levels being stacked against you if you don’t want to use real money for power ups, and lots of useless moves that don’t help you achieve the goal of a level at all, forcing you to waste precious moves, and the game not reshuffling the board until ALL available moves have been made, whether they help or not- haven’t changed at all. Like before it’s easy and fair in the beginning- I started from scratch- but it doesn’t stay that way. Don’t go into this with high expectations, don’t go in thinking you’ll get very far for free. TL;DR- Some things are different in this version, but a lot that needed changing hasn’t been and likely never will be. Game still doesn’t play fair and pushes IAPs. Disappointing.

They have changed the daily reward system. No more snowballs for extra moves. I won’t be playing anymore, but will check back occasionally to see if that’s changed. When they start giving out snowballs again, I will start playing again.
It’s good but there are a few issues

I love the game, it’s fun and the graphics are really great. I do have a few issues though. I don’t like the fact you can’t sign in to an account to save your progress, therefore I lost everything the other day when I switched phones. And it makes me not even want to play anymore cause I put in a lot of work to get enough pink tickets for the special items to put in the town. My other problem, they make some levels impossible. It was around level 60 or so when I got stuck on a level, and not even any boosters helped me pass it. It’s quite irritating. Other than that, it’s a great game

If you like ads popping before the level and after the level, usually 3 rounds of the same ad in a row - you’ll love this game! If you like a nice 3-in-a-row matching game to relax and enjoy - do yourself a favor and go find another game.
This game will not even load. Worthless game.

I just spent an hour trying to start this game. It crushed 20 times, and I have an iOS 10.3.2 worthless game.

Terrible since Jam City took over. Can no longer beat levels without using power ups and can no longer earn Snowballs which give 5 plus moves

You can brag about daily gifts….but most of them are useless. Especially the ‘free play’ that is ‘drop your life and play NOW or you lose it’. I’d love to see the percentage of people that can actually take advantage of it, I’d bet that a majority do not, I know I can’t. I think may be once a month that ‘award’ will fall on a day that I have time to play. I have just completed my 50th attempt to pass a single level…unsuccessfully I may add. Sadly this is normal for this developer. They deliberately put in impossible levels because their goal is to get you to ‘pay to play’. And to do this they give you less moves than you need to pass a level. They rig the game so that the required special items do not drop into the game. They ‘tweak’ how the crystals act to keep you from winning. I can only presume from the deluge of ‘player engagement’ special events they are having a reduction in players or active players….let me give you a hint guys, many of your long time players deliberately do not participate because they know you are rigging the game, and it doesn’t take the new folks long to figure it out.(it only took me one time to figure out that your weekly ‘beat all 20 levels to win a prize’ was rigged and nothing but a money grab.) I am also far more likely to plunk down some money to support a developer that is treating people fairly…and will just as likely refuse to support those that use their power to abuse players. Jam City is hiding behind ratings earned by Disney’s years of owning this game. They are also hiding behind exploiting the App Store to bury negative reviews and they do the bare minimum of slapping in a boiler plate (or even blank) ‘response’ to keep out of trouble with the App Store. Match 3 games are common in the App Store, go and find one published by a developer with ethics.
