Buy it and don't give it a second thought!

I pretty much never leave a review for an app, but I felt compelled to do so this time. Hands down the best $10 I've ever spent on an app. I was worried about my productivity with doing web app development on an iPad, but this app has made it painless every step of the way! Plenty of keyboard shortcuts and a superbly put together interface make this thing feel more like a desktop application. The built in SSH client is really helpful as well.

Picks up where others leave off (updated2)

This app proves that you can manage and edit sites on the go. Panic's Prompt 2 is a top notch SSH client and terminal emulator. Coda needs a little more baking still, but I'll keep using it because I think that the team is responsive and is trying to improve the app. It has an elegant look, and once you get the UI down, you see how powerful it is. This app will sit on top of Editorial when I need to spend more time editing HTML than just the basics. Read the start guide though first. Remember to create a local root folder for each site so that your files stay organized. Note: from Editorial (which supports Dropbox) you can copy a file over to Coda :) .

Takes the pain out of remote admin

If you've got to do something to your server and all you have is you iPhone and iPad, this is by far the most painless way to do it! Coda is (no surprise) well thought out and just works. OK, when you load a 80MB log file into the editor so you can search, it can lock up and crash, but so what? That's a pretty extreme thing for an iPhone or iPad to do. For changing conf files, fixing typos, and doing admin tasks, this can't be beat! Thanks, Panic!

There has never been a better iPad application. Ever.

Amazing functionality on the go! (Updated)

Update: So, I've been using this app more often and the constant crashes are really bugging me (pun somewhat intended). When editing a CSS file I had to relaunch the app multiple times (as in more than 5) in about 20 min of work. Really. Annoying. Otherwise, my late review still stands! The app is still worth your money, the problem is this buggy version. Late Review: This app is completely worth the price tag, if you're a web developer, you'll love being able to code on the road. This version however keeps crashing on my iPad Air running iOS 9.2.1. I find myself again and again having to reopen the app. Luckily I always save the file before previewing it, so no data loss. The only thing missing, in my opinion, besides the bug fix, is a way to directly access and edit files from the cloud. Panic has their on panic sync, however since I already have a lot of files on my clouds, it'd be a great improvement to my workflow to directly edit and re-upload them automatically, as well as view changes made on other devices. That said, great work with the app, it's essential to my iPad now!

Handy. Lovingly crafted. A stunning example of what an iPad can do.

Even after all this time, when you think about it, the iPad feels like the magical device. A thin slab of glass that can deliver the world's knowledge into your hands. But most folks use their iPad to only see bits of the world, less often to shape it. So it's easy to get jaded. Then you pick up Coda 2. If you're a geek who ever imagined you could code a bit and SSH to your heart's delight while sitting under a tree on a beautiful day outside, this is your tool. Enjoy a day exploring the world without the burdens of a laptop, power brick, or electrical outlet anxiety. It's an insanely great and insanely well-priced glimpse of the future. Get it.

Powerfully beautiful

I've been a huge advocate of Coda since I stumbled on their Mac app, and their iOS app does an absolutely incredible job bringing their editor to the small screen. Syntax highlighting is positively phenomenal, and the ability to use my iPad as a real-time display of my pages being edited? That's definitely the cherry on top. Awesome job with the app!

Incredible value

I'm a former web designer and only bought this app to make minor changes to my personal websites without needing to bring a laptop with me. It's incredibly thought out and feature rich, even when compared to the desktop version at ten times the price. If I was still full-time I might judge this app more critically, but only because the temptation would be there to have it fully replace a desktop environment—a testament to its utility and feature set. Panic has once again set the bar which all good Apple software should be judged by.

Note that you can change the default color theme (I have no idea why Panic's default is light text on dark). This app is not as intuitive as you'd expect from such a great company - I had to consult the "getting started" just to understand some basic things including changing settings for the editor (which it seems you can only do from the menu of an open file? why?) - and it doesn't seem to confirm on successful upload of the active file? But overall, this app is very powerful and it lets you unlock via your choice of password or Touch ID.
