Remember when CNET was about tech?

It appears that the geeks have all been pushed out and the failures from Popular Mechanics have moved in. I can remember when CNET was about computers and technology. However, the volume of car reviews recently is overwhelming. I know, the Detroit Auto Show is happening. I know there is a lot of tech in new cars. However, the number of articles about cars is way too much. Other product verticals have their big shows, and there isn’t this much coverage. Most of these articles about cars try to talk about the tech in them. Yet, so many articles about horsepower, design, colors and handling. This isn’t about the tech anymore. This is about cars, plan and simple. It’s a shame that this publication and the supporting on-line tools have lost their way, due to an editor who has the wrong focus. If the argument is that too few people care about tech (really?!?) and the focus has moved to cars, change the site, the publication and the name to reflect the audience you think has more purchase power and influence and get out of our computer vertical completely. Why won’t you? Not enough power of courage to throw away the consumers who are the base. If you can’t do it here, it proves why you have been changing jobs all of your “career”.

No Sound in videos

For the past few months every time I try to watch a video the commercial always has sound but when the video comes there is no sound. What's up with that??

Crashes constantly .... new interface is terrible .. not sure what the zoom in zoom out is for when you first click on an article .. even the content is not what it used to he !!
Love CNET, just wish the videos wouldn’t zoom as you scrolled

CNET has been my main source of tech news for years. For the past few months, the app would crash every 2 minutes. Recently, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and it no longer crashes. Hooray! Now my only gripe is that when videos auto-play, they are zoomed in so you can’t see the left and right edges until you scroll down a little. The videos should not zoom in and out as you scroll the content.

Does not allow you to browse through review subject headers like you can on website making it nearly useless.

Update: When you click on a story that contains a video the video is now muted. I think that’s much better than auto-play with sound! I wish there was a way to turn off auto-play videos. If that option is added I’ll change it to four stars.
Not a good update

Since this last update I can no longer have the choice to look at just Apple News and rumors. It’s product specific like iPad or iPhone X. I liked it before when ALL Apple tidbits are available.
