Game freezes whenever I use a knight card and have to move the robber or whenever the game tells me to move the robber. Please fix this issue and you will get stellar reviews. Thanks

Better than Catan Universe!!!...(but very buggy)

Update as of 12/19/17: I played a few more games on this old Classic version. Overall it still is superior to Catan Universe in that you can read text on choices, and you can control trading options quickly without having to just accept or decline an offer. BUT!...it has become really buggy in the later stages of the game. The progress cards will often completely disappear from site with only the check box and left/right arrows showing. It forces you to blindly click around to try and find the card you want. Closing and reopening the app did not fix the problem. I worry that they are no longer really supporting this version since all effort has been focused on Catan Universe. I love the Catan game, but this could be the end of it. It is no fun at all to play for over an hour only to have the game interface become unplayable and AI bots just not responding... Even though this was a better design than Catan Universe, I still do have to drop rating to 1 star fort this version as well. : ( This program could use a few improvements, but overall, it works well and is very intuitive. I have played hundreds of games on it, and the interface and rules make sense. I tried Catan Universe, and it is an absolute mess. Catan Universe is extremely unintuitive even to an experienced Catan player. Stick with this one, and do not bother with Catan Universe. If they don’t continue to support this classic version of Catan, then I will just stop playing it - there are too many other good board game ports out there that are done well - look at Carcassonne, Agricola, Lords of Waterdeep, and Terra Mystica to see how it can be done right.

This game is actually pretty ridiculously rigged. When playing against the computer you WILL take the early lead bc the AI is terrible. Unfortunately, this causes the game to go into correction/catch up/handicap mode. Be prepared for the computer players to roll 7 and steal from you or play a robber card and steal from you almost every turn. Usually with two, sometimes three in a row! If you can survive that “bad luck” you may win. If the dice rolls and game play were more realistic, this game might ok. As is, don’t bother.

Wasted my money and time trying to play Catan on this P. I. A. App. Purchased only 2 days ago for my iPad. It will not let me buy roads, settlements, cities in the places I want to put them, even though the highlighted icons show that they are available. It will let me put them in other places: like dead ends to opponents roads or settlements. Seems to be most ineffective on the south/bottom part of the island. So my computer generated opponents can go in and build where I was trying to build. It is infuriating and sad how it wrecks what would otherwise be a fun game. It will freeze up or just plain not respond. I have restarted the iPad several times to try and get things going. It seems criminal to me that they would keep selling this bug infested, paralyzed app.

After playing dozens and dozens of games I’ve notices some distinct cheats that the game relies upon to make the game challenging. First the dice. Dice roll probabilities are weighted against you. More specifically they are weighted against numbered tiles you control. If you have tiles 4 through 12 (excluding seven of course) 2 and 3 will be rolled a surprising amount. The only way to combat this is to try and get as wide a range of tiles as you can. Traditional expectations that 6 and 8 are good tiles go out the window. Second, the AI will robber you to death, even if you aren’t in the lead on points. It seems if you are the first to get to 3 points the AI will relentlessly target you with robber rolls of 7 and from cards. It gets old quick especially when you get hit 4 or more times in one round. The AI likes to buy up all the cards early, at the expense of building anything. The moment you build your 3rd settlement they start using the robber. The game looks great, but lazy AI development has lead them to rely on crutches that just kill enjoyability.

If you love the board games, do NOT buy these apps. The dice rolls are NOT random when playing against the AI. Really--the AI is on a 2, so guess what gets rolled a lot even though you are on 5, 6 and 8. Three 2s in a row?? You have got to be kidding. Don't even get me started about the the 7s. Keep track of who rolls the 7s and how often. Play more than 1 game and see how often the AIs numbers are rolled, especially in the beginning. Totally unfair. Takes the love of the game out of it, which is too bad, because the graphics are great.

Even when my score is 3rd or 4th I get robbed while computer leader is untouched. 7s are rolled in ways that are very punitive not random. It has become very unlike the real game which it was when it first came out. Computer thief and monopoly card always know exactly what to choose. Not just uncanny but unreal. It’s just not as fun as it used to be when I first started playing a few years ago.

Best money I spent. Yes has glitches but the hours of play I’ve gotten from this game is worth the money I spent.
