Nothing Good In Life Ever Lasts

I am writitng this review, just moments after I updated to the most recent version. I am dissapointed. I have been using this app to caption my TikTok videos for the last 9 months; however, after today, I will NEVER use this app again. While the most recent update sports an outstanding amount of visual upgrades and peformance increases, they are meaningless when you open the app to find out that you cant use them. Thats right. With their most recent update, the Captions team have officially become apart of the corporate machine and have SOLD OUT. If you want to use this app, it now requires an overpriced, MONTHLY subscription. What was once free and simple, has now been ruined with greed and money. I have reccomended this app to MANY creators, and I have been a loyal user; however, that ends today. DO. NOT. DOWNLOAD. THIS. APP. Never let anyone, no developer or app creator, bait and switch you like this. If the creators of this app actually cared about their users (and not about their pockets), they would charge a ONE-TIME fee. But if they REALlY cared, they would have simply notified their users that the new update would now require a subscription. However, they knew, that if they announced it, then no one would update the app. They kept it a secret so as to get more signups for their new subscription service. Sadly, it appears that nothing good in life ever does lasts, and that money is at the root of all evil. Farewell, Captions. It is an end of an era. -Ray

I used this app to post IG content but now I can’t create any without paying. I couldn’t even move the emojis or substitute them for videos so paying seems extreme for an app like this. It recognizes some videos well but I still have to manually input several words. Think charging loyal users was a mistake for this one right now.

Great app! However, you can only do vertical videos. Otherwise works as intended. But not worth buying if you can only do one direction.
Forcing to buy Pro

Why is this app now forcing me to purchase a Pro subscription? As soon as I hit the SEND button, an add for the Pro version pops up and will not go away. I even deleted and reinstalled the app. Guess it’s getting permanently deleted. I don’t need, or want, the extra features.

so this was free with all the features i had previously & now suddenly you have to pay a sub? LOL? wow. liked it better when it was free!

This app was really good for something that was free but now they’ve suddenly put their serivce behind a paywall…the app barely lets you properly adjust missed words. I’ll just use Tiktok’s transcription service. Update: please add the ability to delete words

This app was great!! Absolutely perfect. Now they want money (I guess that’s the end game for everyone?) But why not include a free version with limited features for those who can’t afford it? Idk who did the analysis to decide $8 a month was the best option but that’s ridiculous. This was an incredible resource for the HH and auditory processing communities and now we can’t use it because it’s ridiculously priced (when it was free before!!!) Literally don’t get people excited about and used to using an app if you’re only going to charge them later. Back to manually adding captions because I utterly and viscerally refuse. SMH.
