Great app

Perfect for students

Good but

A lot of issues with connectivity. The beats stop randomly and although I am a paid subscriber, the app stops with constant reminders to rate. I am only doing so now with the hope that this will stop the reminders.

Don’t waste time. Get Brain.fm and leverage Deep Work.

This is by far the best focus/sleep audio tool you can find. I DO NOT like to listen to music - even instrumental - when I’m working as I feel it detracts from my focus. Brain.fm is the only alternative to silence that supports my efforts. I write, create, design, coach, and teach at a post-grad level, and I need uninterrupted attention when engaging those activities. Brain.fm helps me stay in the “zone” or “flow state” while I work. It also has helped me get to sleep - just don’t forget to set an alarm or make the “play” duration shorter, because it can be that effective. You won’t be disappointed with this software.

Helps a lot for Focus; Nap/Sleep: less so

It’s very useful to have 30 min-2 hrs of Focused work. And for a 45 min or shorter Nap, it’s not bad — but I wish it allowed more time choices or the ability to set a duration beyond the defaults. Sometimes I wake up and need to fall back asleep for a couple hours. Sometimes I need a 1.5 or 2-hr Nap. But I find my binaural apps/tracks work better for sleep anyway, so I return to those to really conk out. (Some of those also use a slowing rate of pulses or beats to entrain and slow the mind, which may be why they can be more powerful for deeper sleep.) Pro-tip: The Brain.fm for a 30-min Focus session works pretty well as a Wake session.

Connection issues

NurseSC

Connection issues. It will stop playing for no reason. Otherwise I enjoy the app. I use the focus track the most.

Been a customer since... a long time ago. Love it for all the same reasons other people do. BUT for the love of God, PLEASE give us landscape orientation. iPad usage is awkward because you have to flip it into portrait or do it sideways. I can make you a responsive UI! ?

Pretty good and slowly getting better

I use Brain.fm all the time, mostly for focusing. It works great if I don’t think about the “music,” which isn’t very good. If I just let it do it’s thing, within 10 minutes I’m good to go. Kind of like falling asleep, you can’t do it if you’re thinking about it. If I’m using my computer though, I’ll usually listen through the website because there are more options. I also wouldn’t mind better sound quality. Just because I’m not really paying attention to it, doesn’t mean it needs to sound like an mp3 from 2002.

Problems problems

The app doesn't offer a reliable streaming service. Audio files cut out for unpredictable periods and suddenly resume despite reloading app and trying everything to start the sounds over. On top of that, when I try to use the browser version of the app it doesn't transfer my subscription over despite being the same account. The sounds are fantastic and very effective, but the dysfunction of the software makes it relatively useless.

Indispensable

Longtime subscriber. Huge fan, bordering on dependency, thanks to its effectiveness in helping me manage my attention and get things done. I am a heavy user: during 10-15min zazen meditation sessions each morning, then several hours' worth to focus during work. I'm a software developer and "mind hacks / life hacks" type of person, have tried countless other apps and processes and tools, and for me nothing else comes close to this (along w/ 7h sleep, daily meditation, and use of a bullet journal). YMMV but for me Brain FM is the gold standard for managing mental state through audio. PS Had some temp connectivity issues as of my upgrade to iOS 11.2, but they were completely resolved by removing the app and doing a fresh install (v2.45.2.35) from the app store.

Focusing Help

Brain.fm helps my focus and concentrate on getting projects completed. I’ve used the app for other categories, but mainly focusing. It helps keep me on task. They have new sequences too than when they first launched. I use the app daily.
