Had to reset network settings on RX585... Airplay issues cutting out, amp unresponsive to app
kevk74

I’m not sure if it was introduction of Airplay 2 or what is going on, I’m using Ethernet (no WiFi adapters) straight to my AirPort Extreme AC. There is been no firmware updates to the Extreme? I can Airplay fine to my ATK 4K HDR to my bedroom TV w/music streaming apps, but amp cutting in & out, static and volume jumping. I reset network setting on amp even though firmware up to date? Then day or so later this app update comes, receiver back acting the same way? Thing is it was even playing from my Network local storage via Ethernet and it was jumping songs, same static, cutting in & out, volume unresponsive from iPhone 8 Plus running iOS 12.2? I reset network settings on the amp again and it resolved itself. Turning on & off amp, resetting AirPort Extreme did nothing. Only manual resetting my RX 585 7.2 Network Receiver fixed, but I can’t tell if it was introduction of this app update or something suddenly wrong in my receiver. Horribly upsetting either way and nearly blew out my vintage English speakers. I’ve used nothing but Yamaha receivers since 1990. I’m praying it’s your firmware or iOS app software still has bugs because it was fine until recently and updated iOS 12.1.2 to 12.2. It might be fine now, was last night but awfully coincidental your app comes in and it was working after one manual Network setting reset, then I update and back to acting the same? I did it again after update and noticing behavior return again? Worked for now but perhaps advise network resets if your app is going to throw my iPhone app in to a run away unresponsive train. I have thousands of dollars in speakers to protect.

IOS App not working with TSR 7810
MJ975

iOS app is very inconsistent, works intermittently. Using with TSR 7810 and it always opens with an error message and an unable to use. Thank goodness I still have the Yamaha remote. WiFi signal is strong and all settings appear to be according to the instructions in the manual. I suspect the problem is with the app itself. Will not launch. iOS app needs to be updated because it is not usable as is

Sci-fi DSP
PhotoDude2011

It works ok but every time I switch inputs the DSP Automatically switches to Sci-fi sound which is super annoying! How difficult it is to keep it at my current setting of 7ch Stereo. This needs to be fixed.

Lost connectivity over my network
SDH-RX-S600

Updated 15 May 2019: The app is currently broken and useless! I love my RX-S600 (wired connection to my router) as well as my RX-S601 (connected via WiFi) - and I have depended on this app to control each of them. I use it to tune to Internet radio, airplay (thankfully both receivers still show up in my airplay controls within other apps!), volume, power On/Off, etc. Recently both devices disappeared from the app! What happened? The app is up to date, and I just made sure both receivers had the latest Network Update applied as well. Network Standby is also still set to On. It’s not ok to break minimum connectivity and functionality! Looking forward to a fix...

Don’t upgrade
mastman26

Had a brain fart and upgraded accidentally. Now I’ve lost all connections and control w this app. Inexcusable.

Great app
Geoff123456

I’m sure there are things that can be improved about this app, but for day-to-day usage it is perfect for me. 1). It starts very fast. If I’m doing something else on my phone and I bring up the app, it starts and connects almost immediately. Contrast this to my Fios app, which starts and connects very slowly. Net result - I use the Yamaha app instead of the remote, but I still use the fios remote. 2). The app and receiver are well synchronized. E.g., if you change the volume with the knob on the receiver, the app registers the change immediately. 3) power on works. The Smartify app for my tv doesn’t turn the tv on, only off.

Best, we love this app
Apple Home

We use this app on our iPhones all the time, until it's out of date and reverts to demo mode; after about 1 Day it’s working again.

How is Yamaha not addressing the issues?
Dmbisone

What a poor effort from a top notch company. App worked well until a few months ago. Now it often will not connect, when it does it freezes when clicking the input tab, and will not enable party mode (also freezes). UX and design was never good but this is so disappointing. Total dealbreaker on getting another Yamaha receiver. Fix this please!!!!!!!

Works approx 50% of the time
Tikitorch6

This works 50% of the time at best. Works fine then all of the sudden loses connection and will not work for a while. Randomly reconnects days later. Annoying

NO STARS IF I COULD
LostGeek

We have been using the app and it usually worked well until the update. Now the app will not recognize my stereo and the app stays in demo mode. The Yamaha remotes are quite complicated and without the app, it is very hard to use the stereo. PLEASE FIX THE APP OR ROLL IT BACK! This is RIDICULOUS!
