I’ve been a user of August for a few years now but as a company they really need to get their software development and releases under control. Maybe do some software testing in beta before complete updates are rolled out and break things? The only reason to use August is for their locks. Now the lock integration to the phone is broken in IOS and I’ve heard in Android as well. Why do I need a smart lock that doesn’t work with my smart phone? Thanks to their new “update” my keys are once again easier to use than my smart lock.


Widget not functioning

I like my WiFi lock, but… Over a month ago the widget on my iPhone stopped working. I attribute it to the latest iOS upgrade. However, from the time the widget stopped working I have been sending support requests in. I was told that an app update would be needed. Annoyingly, I get different replies from customer service from closing this open ticket, claims this is resolved, or requesting more detail from logs. Still no app update to get widget working again.

Auto-unlock via Bluetooth functionality AND widget stopped working when updated to iOS 15 and higher. Widget says “unable to load.” So disappointed to lose the two most important functions of having this lock!

Buy these locks if you want to lose remote access to them when the app stops working, which it currently does not in the current iOS version. Now the Android version doesn’t work either. Lovely. There is no way to access the locks on their website, which is insane. You need to have a backup when your app is this unreliable, August! I want a refund on my expensive and now useless hardware (x4)!


Auto Unlock Broken

The auto unlock feature worked quite well when I first installed the lock but now it has worked once in the last two months for me and my wife. This was the one feature that swayed me to my current lock over competitors and now it’s completely broken. Please fix this issue.

The auto unlock function was often problematic and sometimes it simply didn’t work. We had minor annoyances here and there, but overall this app did it’s job and the door got unlocked. Their lack of response to the broken widget was the last straw though, and today we replaced it with another brand. So long August app!

After 4 Years…

After having this lock for four years, I think it’s time to switch to a different brand - probably Level. August seems to always have issues with the app or the lock, if not both. The app will update and lose widget function. Being able to easily unlock my door is why I got this. If the widget only works on 20% of the updates then it’s not helpful. Bluetooth has issues. Can’t do wifi because the Connect never works. The Connect stopped working after a month and no amount of customer support will make it run more than a week. There were so many good reviews, but 4 years later I have nothing but buyers regret.


It's great when it actually works

Installed this a few months ago. Initially worked great and was consistent in unlocking the door, as it should be. It's gone downhill in the last month or so. Very inconsistent in opening the door. I now use Siri on my watch to avoid getting angry. I wrote to support 3-4 times and even wrote to them on Twitter. No reply ever.

first: it makes guests uncomfortable having to sign in with both e-mail and phone number, why the need of that much information for just open a door?! second: adding alerts on IOS got fixed but now only gets the alert on one device, the point on expending so much money in a smart lock is to have access to the most simple functions, and getting notifications of specific users opening the lock it supposed to be simple.
