Since the major update

MaxwellT

Since the major update, I can’t figure out how to use your app. Things I could do with the old app don’t appear to be available anymore.

Great; but not so great.

For sure, this app is worth having, but it is equally frustrating. I enter all the items to identify any bird, even a crow, and it finds zero results. I enter my sighting with a photo, and it gives me no information or means by which to size the photo to suit this app. So, I get a photo showing about one fifth of a bird. However, the info on a bird, once I find it, is excellent. One useful feature to add would be that a description includes a short list like, “Often Confused With ...” or “Similar To ...” or “See also ...”

No longer proliferates photos, seasonal ranges

This app worked better before the major update awhile back. It no longer proliferates bird guide photos, and the seasonal range maps also don't proliferate.

Used to be my favorite — no more!

I assumed the glitchyness and tendency to crash was the fault of the aging iPod Touch I used it on. I should have read the reviews... I use the app on my iPod so I’m not able to connect with data in the field. I HAVE to be able to download the field guide, or it’s useless! I started the ‘few minutes’ process at 6:05 pm. It was still loading when I returned home over three hours later. In the six weeks since I’ve owned this device (6th gen iPod Touch) I have installed, force-quit, deleted, reinstalled and anything else I could think of, and the app still doesn’t work unless I’m home by my wifi which is hardly optimal birdwatching conditions. I’m disappointed, because this really was my favorite app, especially for bird song. I’ve used it since the days when I had to pay for it! But I’m switching to Merlin for a free app, and buying Sibley. Sorry, it’s been good to know you.

Back to being my go-to birding app

I had been experiencing issues with the app crashing on certain pages so that I couldn’t log bird sightings. The developers reached out to me to figure out exactly what the issue was, and with the most recent update it works like a charm again! Great customer service. I like the search features to determine what kind of bird I’m seeing, and of course the ability to log them in my mobile life list. Especially as a new birder, this app is great for helping me identify birds in the field.

Pretty pleased

Lots of information available; could be easier to navigate. Especially when logging “repeat” sightings of a species, it feels like too many steps.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

just post my review!

Update. As of 7/15, I’m still unable to use this app. Crashes every single time. Beyond frustrating. As so many of others have said, the new version is awful. Multiple bugs. More than I care to list, the worst one being I can’t use if for more than a couple minutes without it completely crashing. Bummer. Especially this time of year in Kansas with 45% of all migrating birds making there way through the state. So the new update hasn’t fixed the constant crashing for me. I still can’t use it for more than a couple minutes without a complete crash.

Update

Since the update mine keeps crashing! I can only have it up less than a minute and down it goes! ?

Custom list are back!

Reader1983

The biggest complaint I have had since the new redesign is the fact that the custom list were not available but they are now back with the current update. So I can now go back to the 5 star rating it was before!

Why did they change it??

I used to love this app. It was the only app I used. But now i have no desire to use it anymore. Does nay obey know of another bird app that is like the old version?
