AT&T deserves all of the one star ratings heaped on it for this app. I have remained a patient and loyal user hoping for the functionality intended and advertised, until today. It simply does not work in any reliable manner whether “system errors” which occur frequently, or, inexplicable data lockouts which do not appear on the control screen. After 45 minutes on the phone with a tech I learned the only way to restore data to a kid phone I was trying to manage was to terminate the subscription which I gladly did. Awesome customer retention model!

Did a free trial. Didn’t change any of the settings. Now my daughters data is blocked. I can’t remove the feature. Customer care told me I was stuck without Data until the free trial was over and that there was nothing they could do about it.

I usually read negative reviews with a grain of salt since I find a lot of the time it is people not being to figure out the app or having the wrong expectations. However, in this case this is a complete FAIL! AT&T is a big company with lots of resources. The concept of this app is good. The execution is terrible. I set this up on 3 devices 5 days ago. It shows nothing with regards to the activity occurring on those devices. I have called AT&T twice. The first time the said I have to wait 24 to 48 hours. I waited past that period and nothing. The second time they said they have to de-activate and re-activate the service and it would work in 10 minutes (5 hours later - nothing). Well intentioned, poor execution, for something that is quite frankly not that complicated for a decent group of developer.

Really low key on keeping track of kids usage. Doesn’t update well nor does it catch all txts n calls. On top of that, it’s not accurate to when calls and txts are made. For parental controls, it would seem this app was made by folks with no kids.....

Seriously? Why bother when any 6 year old knows how to bypass

Terrible app. iMessage still works no matter what. It doesn’t keep track of hardly anything. Big waste of money.

Needs feature and bug fixes

Really need to be able to manage access to texting/calling separately from other data usage. Have a problem with our teen getting “online” way too much but still need full texting and calling capability whether the WiFi is or isn’t connected. Even if we turn his data off and add our numbers in as “allowed”, the app is not allowing him to text us back. Please fix this. At the moment, it’s not worth the price.

I had this on my children phone worked really good. One day the app stopped working and I’ve called and called AT&T and nothing. I can log on from my computer. Just the app is not working.

We have been unable to use the phone that was restricted since smartlimits was installed. It’s been about two weeks now without the ability to use data. I’ve removed all the limits that were placed on the phone and they reappear. I’ve changed the window of time that the phone should be restricted (to something unobtrusive like 1am-2am), and it didn’t save that setting. I tried to switch the phone restrictions to another phone on our account (because I absolutely had to have a phone designated), and saved the setting but it reverted right back. I’ve closed and deleted the account (and added, and deleted again as requested by various customer service people), changed the SIM card, turned it on and off dozens of times, had 5 service calls so far from ATT and one from Apple. Each customer service person worked on the case for no less than 30 minutes before saying they did all they could do. Whining, muttering under my breath, swearing and crying also did nothing.
