Lacking a very simple feature

Amazon is pulling an Apple by leaving out a very simple feature which could only be intentional. That feature is remembering the page you left off on a book. I’m sure that rest of the app is fine but this is what we use the app for and this is my experience.

The toggles are stupid and don’t work when setting time limits. It’s very finicky!! Just put in a drop down menu or let me tho in the time. Get rid of the slides. Also when my child runs out of time and wants more it’s silly that I have to log in and change her limits…. It changes then for the whole week and I forget about it and by the end of the week her screen time is up to like 2 hrs a day. When that prompt comes up I wish I could press ‘add 20 minutes for today’. Come on Amazon…..

The app designers should actually try using it

The app is awkward to use, to say the least. Controlling kids use of he app and the tablet requires tons of trial and error, and there is no clear explanation when something goes wrong, or some features blocked because of restrictions. The designers should really try to use it. I’m sure they will improve the usability, if they are not driven insane first.

Good, but could be much better

For young kids, this app is great. Lots of games, books, ECT for a good price without needing Wifi all the time. What needs major improvement is the parental controls, which is basically the selling point of the app. 1. The choices of time limits is "weekdays" or "weekends". We all know bedtime for kids is later on Fri/Sat, not Sat/Sun. But the app doesn't understand that. It considers Friday night a weekday and Sunday night a weekday. 2. The educational goals only allow you to block games until they do it, or just have a goal that means nothing. It would be nice if there was something like "you must complete 15min of reading for every 30min of games" or something similar. Just more goal options. 3. Kids get no warning of when their time limit is close. It just shuts off without warning. A pop-up of "2 minutes left" or something would be reasonable. 4. The phone app for parents will not stay logged in as parents. It always defaults to kid's profile. I use my phone to control their tablets. I don't want to go through having to log off the kids and into the parent dashboard every single time from my phone. 5. I would like even more control over what they can do. Getting the option to block certain things vs. only restricting by age.

Amazon’s UI is terrible, the fire tablet Ui is confusing and requires multiple entry of passwords when switching to parent profile, hard to find common settings and unable to determine why certain devices allow some apps while the other devices under kids profile have more available apps when all settings are the same.. kids trade tablets back and forth because due to some games only loading on one device or the other.. wish I had just stuck with iPads..

I like the app but it hasn’t been working very well so I will give it a 3 I am 9 about to be 10 and me and my brothers love this app
