Our Card Control app lets you take control of your Ally Bank debit card – so you can define when, where and how your card is used. Once it’s downloaded, you’ll be able to track specific transactions, customize your settings, manage notification preferences and so much more.

Features

Card on/off setting: If you turn the card off, we won’t allow purchases or withdrawals until you turn the card back “on”.

Establish spending limits and merchant categories: You can allow transactions up to a certain amount to track spending and prevent fraud. Transactions can also be controlled and monitored for specific merchant categories like gas stations, department stores, restaurants, entertainment, travel and supermarkets.

Location-based controls: Using your phone’s GPS, the My Location feature can limit transactions to merchants located within a certain range of your phone’s location. You can also restrict purchases made in a specific region and deny international transactions.

Transaction push notifications: We’ll send a notification whenever you make a purchase or your card was declined, and you’ll have plenty of custom options to choose from. We also send the notifications in real time, so you’ll always know exactly when the activity took place.

Two ——> One

Even if the performance is not that bad, it still feels more secure having everything in one app, versus having a financial institution that is relatively well-known, split their apps to dictate the number one thing that people stress over... their finances. Even if it’s minimal, I think that the majority of users would like a one sign in experience. Personally, I don’t like the fact that there’s two apps, I don’t like the time out factor when switching between the two, just in case I go to investigate something, I have to re-log back in to the other app. Not to mention that depending on which model of phone you have, the app can be reclaimed for resource allocation.

Server Unreachable
whowhatwhenwherewhy&how

Every time I attempt to use this app I get an error “Server Unreachable” and a button that says retry. This button doesn’t seem to do anything and I’ve never been able to actually connect to the app.

Not Sure Why So Much Negative Feedback
Thomas Mangieri

It’s a stand-alone app to set up granular control of your debit card. When it launched, it immediately signed in using my Ally Bank app info. (I was logged into the Ally Bank app at the time.) no need to set up separate login info. Pretty smooth and straightforward all around.

Two stupids apps for ally?
One5onek

That’s stupid, that you need to download another app to use one app. Lame, inEfficient as well. App crashes it too.

System is horrible
Pinkbug15

System goes down and locks your card if or if not enabled. Don’t use unless you like to be “that” person at the grocery store!

Does not work for iPhone X
Josephunga

This app doesn’t even work for the iPhone X—it doesn’t allow me to sign in when opening the app. Please update because I feel this could be a fantastic and useful app.

Broken and useless
Hill's East

I have tried multiple times to get this to work, but the app says “There is no card to manage, try again later.” Customer service had me delete and reinstall the apps, which you shouldn’t have to do—and it didn’t work anyway. Ally has a good website and a good main app. Why create this piece of junk?

Pending transaction crashes app
Mr Specktor

I have a transaction that is pending and when I click to view details it crashes the app. I did not shop at the store recently, so I think an old transaction is stuck inside the pending section and throwing an error when I go to view details (because the info for that transaction isn’t actually where the app thinks). Update: it is indeed a purchase that has been processed in September (I checked my transactions in the ally bank app), but shows up as pending in this app. Lost 1 star, takes too many clicks to get back into card controls once it pushes me into ally mobile

Are you kidding? 2->1
John K4

Just when you think you’ve found a bank that has some basic understanding of banking software, they tell you you need to download a separate app in order to manage your debit card. Embarrassing.

Doesn’t work, and stupid to have a second app for this!
smm53

After authenticating through the main app, the card controls app says I have no cards. But I have two. The app is useless. And what is Ally thinking by making this a separate app and authenticating through the main app? This is the dumbest arrangement I’ve ever seen with a mobile app, and a very poor experience. I have to reauthenticate in this way every time I use the app too. Capital One does it so much better, and theirs actually works too!
