Broken 1/1/22

Been broken for a few days now. One day it wouldn’t let me into the app. Now I can’t play anything while streaming without it kicking me out before the first commercial ends. Irritating when you just want to keep watch a 7-8 season show your in the middle of. Please fix!


Glitches

Three things that are a problem. One, when you have the opportunity to watch the 30 second interactive ad, half the time it just goes to black screen and nothing happens.I have to close out the app and go back in to even get it started again. So that doesn’t work. Two, every time I go back to the app I have to go into the app, search for my show scroll down to the season I’m watching and then find the episode. I looks like you can just hit play and it’ll start where you left off it doesn’t. It’s so clunky. It is not user-friendly, and it doesn’t remember where you are. Three, It says it remembers where you left off in the show if you sign in, but it doesn't. I also don’t understand why it can’t keep playing if I switch over to send a text or some thing. Other apps I have continue to play on a smaller screen but this one? Nope. You have to close it out and start all over it’s really annoying.


Truly the worst app on my phone

It’s an easy to navigate app and I love all the shows but I have a reoccurring issue that happens. If I start an episode of anything, exit the app then re open it to resume playing the show an error message pops up and I have no way of getting back into that episode.


Worst streaming app

Giving it three stars only because a lot of content is free and doesn’t even require a cable log-in, so I reckon some credit is due here. But, this is really the worst streaming app I’ve ever used. It freezes, crashes, skips content between ads, and the audio/video sync is off constantly on Apple TV. Super frustrating. The iPhone app is even worse. Videos won’t load at all due to “unknown player error.”

I used the app one time and now when I try to watch anything it just tells me “Unknown Player Error. Failed to load video, please try again.” And never plays. It isn’t my wifi, I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled and nothing works. Very frustrating


Love the shows, hate the glitchy app!

I recently started using this app on Apple TV for the first time in over a year and at LEAST three times per episode I have to exit and resume playing because the audio glitches and becomes ridiculously far off from the video. Sometimes after a commercial break, I realize it skipped a whole chunk of the show and started after the next commercial break. Lastly, it won’t auto play the next episode. It will either just go to a black screen and act like it’s going to load, or it takes me all the way back to the Apple TV Home Screen. I should note I have used the app at 3 different households on different Apple TV devices and the result is the same. It is not an issue of internet speed, especially since the many other apps I use don’t work this way, except for the Lifetime app which has the same parent company as A&E with the same app structure.

I don’t understand.. will all due respect to those who have submitted their rating, why not more stars? I really think this app deserves a 4.5 or even 4 stars, at the very least. It’s jam packed full of interesting shows and biographies. A&E has always been in my top 5 cable channels. I think MTV holds my number 1 spot (when they played music videos, that is).

I can never cast from the app to my TV. The only app I ever have an issue with casting. It’s beyond annoying.

I live in a rural area of Central Coast of California. My Wi-Fi is a Business Package from a small local company. I do have a big DISH Channel Package. I have all apple devices, from iPhone-Apple TV. I have a Netgear Router. I only mention this because like other Reviewers, I’ve experienced the same issues with other Apps but not with A&E app. The ads don’t bother me because it keeps me from sitting for too long. I can get up and get a few little things done. I try to keep up on new electronic devices, how to keep them working properly and how to avoid being hacked and Malware. I disable background apps, use low battery mode, cleared old / unused apps, deleted useless screenshots and photos. Only necessary apps use cellular data when Wi-Fi is week due to weather, fires or emergency incidents. I keep everything updated (Router, devices, security apps. I NEVER USE PUBLIC Wi-Fi, I scan my devices weekly and I NEVER click on ads or videos. I do not allow apps to connect to my facebook. Nothing in life is perfect and life is to short to complain about the little things. Happy to say, my A&E app works as it should.
