almost perfect

seikari22

my only gripes are that you cant bookmark a specific section on a chapter. it seems to just send me to the beginning upon reopening of the app. also when reading japanese books, if you try to copy a word with furigana next to it then it will copy the furigana as well. not a big deal but makes looking up words a little bit slower. one big advantage this app has over apples default books app though is that the highlighting gesture isn't so sensitive. that alone makes it better for someone that needs to use the copy function extensively

Long way to go…

Lately Apple has made it impossible to add epub files to ibooks using itunes. I installed Yomu to replace ibooks and even paid for the pro version. Here first the files need to be copied using itunes file share and then imported to library which should not be required. Moreover, some epub files do not work properly as the font size and type cannot be changed. The interface could be even more intuitive.

Useful: text selection methods addressed by Developer

macinsetex

The premier app to work with a wide range of DRM-free materials. My complaint related to (what i perceived as)the app’s erratic text selection behavior. Developer reached out to ‘tutor’ me in Apples text selection system. I was a bit embarrassed. I have used iPhone and iPad from day one, but, oh well, live and learn. please use this app to open a world of reading and also, to enjoy the excellent support === old Review === Very much appreciate the strengths of the app. Biggest problem is with pop up dialogue following text selection. To invoke the selection dialogue banner/box, it is very much a gamble between working, or needing a second touch to call it into action, or losing the selection completely due to the additional, and unnecessary manipulation. This app is on the cusp of being a near perfect reader; now, there stands in the way this text selection bug which severely detracts from its usefulness Looking forward to a fix.

Almost perfect. Needs PDF crop/inverse

UKDNA

I’d be able to quit my endless search for the perfect reader if this one would add PDF cropping (cutting off the blank edges) for when I only have my phone. Also if it would add inverting the colors on a PDF, essentially night mode, turning it to white on black text. See the free and excellent reader Readera to see what I mean, unfortunately only on Android.

What happened

_Lilith

There used to be an option to go to files on my Yomu app installed on my iPad. I only see that available on my Yomu app on my iPhone. Am I missing something on the iPad app? Thanks.

Simple way to read books!

yyxy-

I was looking for a lightweight simple way to read my books and this works perfectly! If you’re looking for that too, this is the right app for you. I do think more customization options would be neat, maybe in the future, it in no way affects my current experience using this app.

Lovely alternative to the stock books app

Probably the best reader on the App Store right now because it doesn’t require a subscription, it’s universal, and is very pleasing to the eye. In the future I’d love to see audiobook support, more customization options (like setting my own margins, etc.), and the ability to organize my books in nested folders! :-)

Good reader with one exception

Nyags1

This was a good reader except every single time I swipe right (to review something on the previous page), it takes me out of the book and back to the library. I then have to search for the book I’m reading in the library and re-open it. Since I go back to previous pages quite frequently, this is pretty frustrating and renders this reader unusable to me. I don’t know if it’s just a glitch on the paid version, I’ve never had an app do this -and I’ve been using ereaders going back all the way to stanza ? I’d be happy to go back to it if this issue is addressed. Response to developers: Why does the swipe right take back to library? There’s a button at the top that seems to do that - and in all other reading apps, that’s the way to go back to library. Swiping to go back to library seems rather asinine since swiping right is also the way to go back to the previous page. Considering the large size of phones now, it is rather hard to one-handedly swipe from the middle of the screen since I have smaller hands. I don’t expect to have to use both hands to turn pages on a reading app. If I wanted to do that, I’d just read a hard copy book.

Almost Perfect

I’ve been trying a bunch of reading apps and this one comes the closest to being perfect. It just needs XS and XXS text sizes. The smallest is size about two steps too large.

Worth it

I just switched from android to iPhone and I thought I was taking crazy pills looking for a decent ereader. None of them can import files locally from your device. None. This one says it can, but seems to only see a “documents” folder that, afaik, doesn’t actually exist. At least not according to “files” app. I’m guessing apple must restrict access to the file system. Anyway, once the files are actually imported, this app is great. You can filter by author, and file type. It also has tags, which is really nice. It would be nice for it to be able to sort by series. But, I guess I can use the tags for that. There are many settings, and they are all easy to use and make sense. It looks nice, too, which is important. It is well worth the money to buy the full version. I gladly bought the “karma” one. I’ll take all the karma I can get!
