Worst app ever

This app makes me hate my camera. I bought a new camera and was told that this app would make up for the lack of flip screen. This app is completely unreliable. It shuts off, it’s laggy, it does not connect to my camera 80% of the time, it’s focus ability is really crappy. I haven’t been able to do self beauty shots for my business and I’m so frustrated and ready to cry at this point. All of my pictures come out blurry and I have to hire another photographer to take my photos for me. I really regrets buying this camera on the advice that this app is helpful

TIP: HOLD PHONE EXTREMELY CLOSE TO WU-1a

Tip: Hold your phone REALLY close to the WU-1a. If I’m even 1 or 2 feet away, it never works well — stalls or freezes, drops connection, starts a photo download but just quits without warning, refuses to download multiple selections, etc. Just like everyone else is complaining. But hey, that’s the normal distance that anyone would try using this! But … if I hold my iPhone right next to the WU-1a, like REALLY close, almost touching it, it works great! I think this closeness lets my iPhone establish a WiFi connection to the WU-1a that is OVERWHELMINGLY stronger than any other nearby WiFi. I suspect the WiFi unit in the WU-1a is very weak. Or maybe very sensitive to WiFi units nearby that are more powerful than my iPhone’s WiFi (which everyone’s home WiFi units are), or something like that. Or maybe it’s just the app. Whatever. In any case, holding my iPhone RIGHT NEXT TO the WU-1a has solved all my problems. I got the idea to try this from another comment here that suggested moving far away from competing WiFi. That’s really hard to do in my urban apartment. But moving the iPhone very, VERY close to the WU-1a has the same effect. Ta dah!

Had high hopes of bridging the convenience gap between my iPhone camera and my D7200 with this app. But after struggling to maintain a connection and successfully download 1 photo in reasonable time—well, in a pinch the iPhone goes in my pocket and the bulky Nikon stays at home on my desk. Probably worth Nikon’s time to think of the implications for the future.

After a hiatus for my love of picture taking I came back with great enthusiasm. Trying to get pictures of the night sky I expected this app to help me. My enthusiasm went down the drain when I faced the unreliability of this app. It hardly keeps connected to my Nikon D7100. It is so frustrating! I am spending more time trying to keep connected than doing what I really love: picture taking. NIKON! hey guys look at the comments. Fix this. I am sure you can. Ah! Did not mention that we, your customers, spend our hard earned money buying your gadgets only to find they don’t work. Come on! Do something!!!!

Haven’t had issues before the new iOS and now can barely get it to stay connected. Might be able to take a picture if I’m lucky. Might be able to download a picture 1 in 15 tries. Have to constantly restart app and connect but I’ve given up hope. Hopefully there is an update coming soon

It works... until it just doesn’t

I’ve put up with this app because I’m the end it’s pretty handy, but fails to download for various odd and buggy reasons. Today it just stopped working. I re-downloaded the app, no change. The error message says it cannot find the selected photos... which I selected 3 days ago right before the app failed. Now I can’t see any of what’s on my SD card.

This app is a 50/50 chance if its going to want to work with you or not, the app is never updated which is the reason for it not working most of the time, App will also crash from time to time. PLEASE UPDATE
