Windy is my weekend sailing planner
Too much airport time
More than any other wind prediction app, I use windy to determine if I’m going out and who I’m likely going to bring. Extremely accurate, so I can determine if it’s a day for my wife and cocktail hour friends for a light cruise at 5-10 knots or serious sailing at 15 kts with folks that like more action.
A bit confusing but once you learn it, it is amazing

I use this app a lot for determining events and when to flyy kite. And it has been surprisingly accurate. The free version works well enough, but the purchased version definitely opens the doors quite a bit wider. But you would want to support the work these developers have done.

Our lake is very large so if it’s windy you can’t go out. It will seem calm at home ,but with the app I can check closer to the shore line.
Accuracy isn’t that good

Used the app about 15 times, and so far it’s about 50% accurate. And not just by a few knots, but Windy calls for 10-12k and gusts to 18k, but turns out to be 2-3k. Or Windy calls for 6-8k and gusts up to 10k, but turns out to be steady at 15-18k and gusts up to 20+k.

They seem to be preying on the excellent name of the Windy.com app, which offers the ECMWF model for free.
