Solid radio app!

tomthecat94

It works well with few skips. Makes my morning walks a lot more entertaining. Works in the background just fine if I feel like hopping on twitter or reddit, haha

Loved it before the upgrade

Dyslexic61

I know, I know. There's always some Luddite grouch who hates an upgrade. But this upgrade has not improved my listening experience. Just the opposite. First: That heart-shaped pitch to donate $5 EVERY time I open the is getting real tired real fast. Hey, I just donated online during the pledge drive (No one can make me feel guilty for not supporting WBUR like Tom Ashbrook.) Second: It's got all these bells and whistles but I really want the app to do just one thing. Stream my favorite radio station live. And It doesn't do that anymore. If I turn it off (because I'm taking a phone call, or because I'm just not into whatever is playing) and then turn it back on, it starts the stream at the exact point it left off. In other words, it's no longer live. I have to close the app and reopen it in order to get it to be 'live' again. Being forced to take an extra step to do a simple function is the hallmark of an over-designed upgrade. I'd love to love this app as much as I love WBUR but I wish I hadn't upgraded.

Best NPR App

Coreythomase

This is an amazing NPR listening experience. The interface is great, the audio experience is amazing.

Flawed live streaming

Chess.com player

While this revision of the app works better than the previous disastrous version, there are plenty of bugs remaining. The most annoying of them is inconsistent live streaming. While there are times when the stream works perfectly fine for hours, it inevitably breaks down. The audio interrupts every 15-20 seconds, disappears for minutes and then suddenly reappears. There is a lot of inconsistency with LIVE status, when the stream is clearly 15 minutes behind but has a live status. Restarting the app solves the issue but it reappears. There is also an issue with looping, when the stream starts looping, replaying the same 1-2 minute segment over and over. This can only be solved by a restart. This app should severe one purpose - listening to WBUR over wifi/cell network. It's inconsistency and connectivity issues make it a frustrating and annoying experience. Please hire great iOS developers and fix it.

Fantastic

The redesign is a fantastic. Navigation is far better, and the sleep feature is my favorite!

App drops out every few minutes

Kimmus2

I'm going to take a break from this app until they fix the bugs. It's too frustrating to listen when I have to restart every few minutes because it drops out so much.

Streaming breaks down and loops repeatedly

Heyjude21

I love the content but recently the app frequently stops streaming then restarts, loops back, repeating the previous 15-20 seconds of comments, over and over again. Restarting the app does not help.

NPR content is great but streaming is very buggy

Scotteau

I going to have to wait for another vet because this one is driving me crazy. The streaming stops every couple of minutes or sometimes goes into a loop where I hear the same 5 seconds over and over. I love WBUR, but this app needs to be fixed.

Inconsistent streaming, sluggish interactions

cinemakinoeye

The streaming stops more than other streaming apps. Responsiveness to taps on screen is sluggish. Desperately needs a performance update. Thanks to the NPROne app I'm not left in the cold. WBUR, please fix this!

Not as great as I'd like

Nandrew12

I like the interface, very easy to use, and I love the 15 seconds back and forward buttons. However I, like some other reviewers, have a major problem with the live feed stopping and starting frequently. And also, I don't like that I can't use my camera while I'm listening to the live stream. I thought this was just something I'll have to live with, but today I was listening to the WGBH app live stream and I *could* use my camera! So come on and fix these things, Folks. Because we *love* you WBUR and your app should be as great as you are!
