It’s hard to articulate how useful the wisdom is, it’s immense. If you are willing to listen and be open minded, its really special, thank you Sam.

Life changing!

This app has helped me meditate more affectively, which I never thought I could do. It has also given me priceless self calming skills and helped me to recognize that thoughts are temporary. I also enjoy listening to Sam Harris’ 2-10 minute lectures on different topics.

10/10 for this app and its content

There something about this app that has got me hooked. I have tried other meditation apps in the past, but haven’t used them more than once. I love Sam’s narration. I love the content on theory, it really helps make practice a better experience.

An Approach to Meditation Based on Awareness and Understanding

alphonso jenkins

I’ve been using this app for about two years with about 300 meditation sessions in that time. What makes Sam’s app different from most meditation practices and teachings, is that he focuses primarily on building an understanding of your conscious experience. This comes with all of the benefits of increased mental clarity, a feeling of being well rested, as well as decreased stress. However, all of those things are really secondary to the skill of understanding how consciousness is and being aware of how you’re feeling moment to moment. These skills will surely allow you to deal with negative emotions as well as experience greater levels of joy, but most importantly they will allow you to simply make better decisions in general because you will be more aware of your own experience. The app is becoming more feature rich and user friendly over time, and even the core functionality has been improving lately. These days I do a 20 minute session at lunch every day and it really makes all the difference. In the past I’ve had difficulty dealing with my anxiety, but due to the consistency and quality of practice this app has provided for me I’ve been able to develop skills that make me really feel like anxiety will never be a problem for me again and that it’s not something I’ll struggle with in the future.

The waking up experience

I love this app. One of the profound things about this app is the multidimensional approach to meditation. The formal and non-formal. The practical theory and existential theory. And the fantastic honest conversations about the frustration one might experience when on the journey of meditation. After about a year of using the app. I started to notice I could put on the app while doing practically anything. Washing dishes, or cleaning my room, or just walking. I started to understand that everything can become a meditation. And truly you can unlock the nature of ones stillness ant any given moment. The eureka moment that you can always “just begin again.”

The Waking Up Meditation App is the most accessible and brilliant meditation tool I’ve been fortunate enough to stumble across. The lessons gradually build upon each other, easing even the most novice practitioners in gently. I now find myself craving the soothing tones of Sam’s voice in the morning and enjoy the benefits of focused and calm energy throughout the day. The best part is the switch I’ve made when confronting what used to be more emotionally challenging situations. I have become more present and, like the name implies, awake to my life.

Contentment In Recovery

I’m grateful for this app, concepts it introduced me to and to Sam’s massive efforts. I’m grateful to be able to just begin again, after being distracted by shiny pieces of foil past ten years.

recent announcement

juiceman401

announced in a recent daily meditation, was that guest content providers in the application would begin to occasionally lead the daily meditation i welcome and appreciate the expansion of content, both to where it is, and to forms yet to come however, please let the daily meditations, specifically as led by Mr. Harris, remain a piece that is unchanged thank you for the priceless wisdom that is the Waking Up application

I have tried other meditation apps, most of which are decently helpful but don’t seem to dive deeply into the goal of self-discovery. That is what Waking Up does. It doesn’t seem to be designed as a salve for the overwhelmed (though it can serve that purpose) or to make you better at your job or other mundane things (though it can help with that, too). After a year or so of use, it’s pretty clear that the goal here is fairly serious and singular: to understand the true nature of mind, and how to fold this into a richly examined life.
