My account was suspended for fraud reasons but it’s now been 7 days and they still haven’t reinstated my account. Every time I call in they say they can’t help me. Don’t waste your time with this bank.


Great App But...

Super easy to use but sometimes pending charges don’t show up on the app; I had to call to find out if it was pending or not. It might just be a bug that needs to be fixed with an update, other than that it is great!


Customer service never picks up

App is great bank is ok but the customer service when you call never picks up ever I have call a few times and they never get to me no matter how long I sit on hold

I’ve used Varo for about six months. Since I started collecting unemployment. Today Varo without warning froze my account for ID verification. Same day my benefits were to be added to my account. I have provided everything they need and it’s been four days without resolution. My family relys on the 360.00 a week and Varo has basically stolen my money and denied me access. They can say they err on the side of caution? That’s BS. A deposit from AAA a respected auto insurance company is far from taking Green Dot deposits from the Ukraine. Give me a break. You freeze Accts with the hopes people will give up fighting your mysterious and ridiculously arcane “fraud” department. Why don’t they reach out to me? Actually have a conversation? Why does it take five days now to check an ID? Give me my money back and I’ll happily close this acct.

Varo held my account closed for 9 days for using the cash and Venmo app. All of my money I had to borrow money to gas up my car. I use these apps to pay ppl and move money with every other account I have ever had with no problems. I made 25 calls to them during that week. And not one person could help me. Then when they decided to release my account they did with no explanation of why they thought the normal banking activities we suspect. Not only would I never recommend Varo to anyone I am making it my mission to tell everyone what I nightmare your bank and policy’s are. I read a lot of other ppls stories that have gone through the same thing with Varo.

I thoroughly enjoy the fact that I get my direct deposit early, and I enjoy(ed) the no fee overdraft feature which spots you $50 until your next deposit. It was nice being able to be spotted a little extra until payday...in the beginning anyway. At some point Varo updated their app which started interfering with the 50 overdraft limit you could use, making all purchases decline even if you still have $45 available for use with the overdraft amount. It doesn’t even solely affect the overdraft amount - you could have $30 bucks in your account, but if you have a couple of pending charges, new purchases will decline until those pending charges settle. Even if the purchase(s) don’t exceed the amount you have left in your account before overdraft takes over. Example: I had about $75 in my account, I attempted to make a $6 purchase and my card declined. I went elsewhere and tried to make another small purchase to test the waters, and again my card declined. I logged into the app and saw that I still had $75 bucks left in my account, and only had about $15 worth of pending charges. Basic math suggest that’s even when those pending charges settled, my avail balance would still be able to cover the $6 purchase and then some before creeping into “overdraft mode”. Varo has some perks, but the seizing of your funds while 2-3 charges are pending is ridiculous, it’s frustrating and embarrassing to say the least.

I had to learn the hard way that not all online banking is good. I tried other online banking services, but this is by far the best I’ve ever had. It’s convenient nowadays free. I love the service.

I have had an account for about a year. The only reason it is still active is because my unemployment is going there. I have hardest time with this bank. They put my account on hold for 4 days and refuse to unlock it even after I verify everything. The customer service is nasty! You will have a hard time gettin your money out of your account. When I call to get help they hang up on me. This is my last straw with them and no this is not the first time they did this to my account. The time I did have fraud they didn’t even fix my issue.


Why would Varo side with a company that admitted to planning on refunding my money ?

So I have been with Varo for over five years had no problem until this past year . I spoke with your customer service and while yes they are nice they don’t give you a straight answer. I had an issue with a company that didn’t fulfill their part of my purchase . I called your customer service was honest told the truth I could have denied ever making the purchase but I didn’t because it was such an open and shut case. I had screen shots of my conversations with the customer service agents of the company I had issues with. They had promised me a refund I had waited the advised time and again charged with the agents of that company only for them to tell me they already refunded me my money. Except they didn’t they were acting like everything on their end was fine and everything went through. Obviously they were lying I sent my screen shots about four different times . I stressed myself out so many times stating my case to be denied. What reason does varo have to deny my complaint . The company itself even said I was to get my refund in seven days then when I didn’t I again brought it to their attention. Your customer service agents couldn’t explain anything fix anything and kept blaming me for why they weren’t receiving my evidence and emails . I think your company knows exactly what they are doing and denying my complaint because I complained on the matter so hard. How can I be wrong about charges I made I though this bank account was for me shouldn’t my word matter . I’m looking for a new bank since I just recurved the SBA loan I put varo but I’m changing that right now because I obviously can’t trust you guys . Look into my account and you explain to me like I am a four year old child why would I be denied when I showed so many reasons for a refund .

I’ve been using Varo for a long time I don’t know what’s going on with your app but it’s pissing me off because every time I keep trying to sign in it won’t let me sign in and it’s acting retarded it does it for my boyfriend to I really don’t know what’s going on with your app
