Spent almost 4 hours of my time trying to create a contract and did not get much help at all. Ended up not working out between client and possible myself while missing out on opportunity to make money at my day job over the weekend

UPWORK DOESN’T PROTECT ITS CLIENTS

We entered into a contract with a freelancer through Upwork, because we believed it to be safer than craigslist. We spent $3k to migrate a site from Wordpress to Squarespace. After receiving the payment, the freelancer stated that his full time job wouldn’t allow him to work on side projects. He kept the money. We brought this issue up to Upwork, along with all of the corresponding emails, and messages throughly outlining the problem. Upwork stayed they could not help, and said they are technically just an escrow company, and I’d have to work it out with the freelancer. Needless to say, but if you are a small /startup business with tight budgets and deadlines, Upwork is not the place for you.

Upwork has been great for me as far as getting some jobs to help build up a portfolio for myself in illustrating. It’s easy to use. Only small complaint is that it takes a few days to get from site to bank account on payments. Highly recommend.

I like Upwork really well. It works great for people who is looking for extra money. All the perks are awesome. I’ve recommended them to people I know and will continue to market by word of mouth. My issue is the call compatibility on phone app. I wish it would work so I don’t have to use desktop version. Otherwise, I’m happy with Upwork so far. Thanks for spreading the love.
