Not going to be forced into a subscription

Grey Bird

After using this Todo app for a long time I’m going to have to delete it and find another since this latest update requires updating through their paid cloud service. I don’t want to sync through the cloud, let alone pay for unwillingly putting my data into their cloud. Bye Appigio!

Ripped off

Paying for premium monthly services, come on! I used to love this app until they changed to subscription basis. Without subscription services the features on this app are limited. There are a lot other to-do app for free with better features.

Terrible update

Tommyboy63

Not only was I forced into an update that requires a monthly subscription, but the update deleted all of my tasks and reminders. I’ll be looking for a new app not made by appigo.

Forced Upgrade is bad business

sdcerreta

I use Todo everyday. I love the previous version and it meets my needs. I have no need or reason to upgrade. Customers should have the option to upgrade not be forced especially when transitioning to a paid version. Even if i get 1 year free, i should have the choice. What pisses me off the most is that the new version does not even work. I keep getting errors that will not let me register for the new version. I use this everyday and now have no access to my lists for two days. I am moving on to another product if they don’t resolve these issues fast!

Latest version no good

ccsmoke

Do not like the latest version, lost some notes in my tasks. Thanks a lot.

App Ruined. Sync Features removed

TekKing

They call this an upgrade? I have auto updates enabled and now the app doesn’t work without subscribing to their cloud service. How can this be considered an upgrade when features are removed? Ability to sync with Dropbox and iCloud no longer exist. Now I am held hostage and can’t even see my tasks without signing up for their cloud service which I’m sure they will charge for after the free year is up. I was already syncing my iPhone, iPad and MacBook, now I have to find a new app since this is now broken. I’ll be putting in for a refund with the Apple since the app I paid for no longer works.

Forced upgrade without notice

Done with this product.

Really Disappointed

Addendum to prior post below - Felt compelled to respond to this 'Developer Response' in another's feedback. “We're trying to be generous and reasonable about having a majority of the app literally free. And at the same time needing to charge for advanced features because otherwise we can’t provide any app at all.” What a load of b.s. To all of us who have ALREADY PAID for this app you're not being generous nor reasonable. You're not GIFTING us anything...we've ALREADY PAID for a product and you’ve stolen it away from us. You’re not simply charging for new, advanced features...you’re charging users who already paid for the app to do things they were already capable of doing with the app prior. That is NOT generosity. You are NOT giving them something extra. You are charging users, most of whom thought this was a great product prior, multiple times and leaving them with LESS than what they originally purchased. Not reasonable, nor generous. As to not being able to 'provide any app at all' without charging users for what they already had, what we already had in hand...what was already provided sitting out there online or on our devices...was all the app many of us needed. We'd ALREADY PAID for something that was working. It wouldn’t have cost you anything to leave the copies we'd ALREADY PURCHASED and installed alone. Please stop pretending you’re doing any of us a favor. A 'majority of the app literally free' is NOT FREE in any way to those of us who HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR IT. How is that such a difficult concept to grasp? If the newer paid portion solely represented additional, new features that’d be a different thing but you removed aspects of the app we'd ALREADY PAID FOR. If nothing else, if you felt you had to switch over to a subscription model you could have grandfathered prior customers into some more complete package in a show of good faith and tried to build on new users via subscriptions. To imagine it'd be okay to take away what your customers already paid for in the name of recharging them for largely the same tools is immoral and shortsighted. ——— Really disappointed. This was such a great, straightforward, flexible, reliable app for years. All that thrown away in the name of jumping on the 'we hadn’t thought through our business model prior, want more money now, so for our own sake rather than yours we've decided that thing you once owned is now somehow a service' bandwagon. The core standalone, non-cloud based product could have remained with the cloud service(s) as an option but instead what we had on our devices was just erased/replaced without any regard for how users were currently using it. A pretty sleazy move. And despite that I’d have been willing, after all the good years, to contemplate giving this app some second chance had the way it was forced on me not also ERASED ALL MY TODO LIST ITEMS IN THE PROCESS. My items were not migrated forward as suggested in the update notes and were not there even after registering. Leaves me incapable of trusting the developer to not make similar bad decisions in the future that compromise content that might be important. Really just very disappointed to see such a good product take a turn like this. If this was a superior new product it should have been offered as a separate app and, if the developer couldn’t justify continuing to support the old version, then just leave that old one out there unsupported to die a slow death as iOS changes make it obsolete over time. That would have been fair. But to take something users have already purchased, are currently using, and replace it with another largely dissimilar app that forces them into repurchasing it is really immoral. Really disappointed.

If I wanted Todo 10, I'd have installed it

LifeInLoFi

Todo 8 works fine for me. This forced update removed the ability to sync with iCloud. And I already paid for Todo 8 and don't need to be forced into switching to a yearly subscription. Todo used to be an outstanding task manager but the developer's shady cash grab had forced me to find another app.

Saying goodbye to an old friend

I don’t need to sync with other devices, I don’t collaborate with other people, etc. and I don’t need to pay a reoccurring subscription fee to continue to use software that I already purchased. Appigo should have put the advanced features into a pro version of the app and charge a subscription fee to those who find those advanced features worth the price. They could then continue a “standard” version of the app for those whose needs are more modest and honor their commitment to those who have already paid for it. Instead, they make a big grab for a large revenue stream. I have recommended this app to so many people over the years, but no more. I’m done.
