ThinkBook - Todos, Notes, Projects, Outlines

Imagine the next step up from a todo list app. It has todos, sure, but it also lets you take notes, organize them into outlines, make projects from them and track your progress. It keeps questions, and their answers, together. It lets you make up dashboards, import documents and images, put all this stuff into pages, and the pages into notebooks. Sounds good? That’s ThinkBook.

I promised a lot in that first paragraph, here’s how ThinkBook does it:

- It has lots of note types: text, todos, questions, projects and attachments.
- Notebooks and pages, they behave just like other notes, move and organize them however you like.
- You can organize anything, all the note types can be indented and collapsed using gestures.
- Finder notes, put some together to create dashboards.
- The slider, it brings it all together, make new notes, re-order them, move, copy and delete. It IS a little different though, so please watch the built-in video tutorial.
- Tags, tag everything you can see. They're inherited, tag a notebook with 'work' and every note in it will be treated as work.
- Attachment notes let you store PDFs, documents and images right in your notebooks, including spreadsheets, music and video.

ThinkBook's interface is very fast and efficient but it IS a little different. This is what you need to know:

- ThinkBook uses gestures to indent and move notes. The left and right sides of the screen accept different gestures.
- On the left of the screen you can drag a note left and right to change the indentation.
- On the right of the screen you can drag a note right to push it into the slider.
- Tap on the slider to see all the things it can do.
- To delete notes push them into the slider then select ‘Delete’ from the slider actions.
- Import attachments from other apps using their 'Open in …' option, the clipboard or iTunes file sharing.
- If you open up ThinkBook with images on the clipboard, ThinkBook will offer to turn them into attachments.

I don’t like trying to work out what other apps have in-app purchases, so here is what ThinkBook offers:

- iCloud transfers. Use iCloud to update your notes between devices.
- More notebook covers. ThinkBook comes with two, you can buy ten more.
- Dark themes. ThinkBook comes with three themes with a light background, you can buy three more with dark backgrounds.

I hope you try ThinkBook out and enjoy it!

Love Thinkbook — wish it was updated

Great, unique and useful app. Just wish it was updated for today’s devices. To the dev, I’d certainly be willing to pay an upgrade fee for an updated version. Bet others would too. Please resurrect this app from the dead!

Was a great app, no longer maintained, and last update hurt
ABR3434

This is a solid outlining app with a few creative differences from other ones. Well worth a try. BUT... App is no longer maintained and unfortunately the last update the author left us with took away the really nice transparent sync via Dropbox, where you didn't need to think about how or where your files were stored or which device you were using, and replaced it with an awkward explicit save and load system that doesn't even work much of the time. Should be removed from the App Store, or at least stopped from new downloads.

DON’T BUY
SavageLadee

I purchased in 2015 and used it quite frequently. Decided to go back to it today and purchased the extra book covers and light & dark feature, created a new notebook and tried to use the the move note up feature and it crashed. Tried again and it crashed several times. I decided to research and found out it was no longer being updated or supported. When I went to the website, it said CLOSED. I guess I’m out of $1.98. BUYER BEWARE!

Don’t bother with this one
DavidsWeb

While it worked, ThinkBook was great. Now it won’t export or backup and there’s no way to contact the developers. Don’t bother with this one!

Please keep developing this app.

I use loads of outiners, but Thinkbook is still my charming little devil. Yet, it’s feeling so neglected that I can’t trust it not to glitch out a bit, so I can’t use it for than a minimalist brainstorm before I move onto other outliners. I love the slidebar methodology of this app. It feels so ergonomic. I’m literally begging you to do more with this app. I can’t break up with it no matter how I try!

Crashed & cant get again

Got Organized With Ease
Kjh-2015

I love this app. I'm not one to write many reviews, so you know this must be a decent app. I use it for organizing all the project that I have going on. It is generic which is its main benefit. I am not a fan of tools that make you follow their processes ... and most "get organized tools" have something missing that is essential. With this tool, I adapted my way to its generic scheme. Like someone said, you have to give it a bit of time before making a judgement. It takes some thought in how to use. Once you figure that out, you will probably find it can handle most any thing you want to track. The one addition I would love to have is the ability to export into a tool like excel or word. May someday...

No longer works!
david_iTunes

This app, which appears to have been abandoned in 2015, no longer works. I've used it for over 3 years, it is one of the most ingenious note-taking apps I've had. Easy outlining, task lists, attachments, project tracking, and, of course, notes in the context of a notebook/page format. Only drawbacks, for me, were the slider interface and export, enhancements to which could have made the program even better. Now it simply crashes. This issue was reported in June. So far, no response. Save your money. I've lost the recent notes, I hadn't yet backed up, and can't get to the ones I have. Even if there is an update to fix the problem, it seems like the developer is no longer interested in promoting this application. Hopefully, someone will pick up on the idea.
