Did not like after dark room

Cbasstian

Sadly this game frustrates me too much after 30 minutes of play. It’s always restarts you from beginning forcing you to redo all the work you did. This killed it for me. I hate repetition :( A Dark Room was unreal. This one... meh.

A wonderfully frustrating game! Highly recommended!!

This game was one of the most frustrating, yet most satisfying games that I have played on iOS in a long time. The main thing to remember is this – “don’t give up!“ You will find yourself confused, wanting to quit, and ridiculed. This is all part of the game. If you liked ADR, you will love this one. Don’t miss it!

Glorious and nostalgic

I played a dark room first, and when I completed it for the first time, I felt so moved I didn’t know what to do besides tell everyone I knew about this wonderful game that grabbed me by my curiosity and threw me for a loop. I got so excited when I saw the ensign was released. But I couldn’t beat it, so I deleted it and tried to move on. I couldn’t! I kept thinking about it, and I just had to redownload it. This game makes me feel like I’m missing a long lost friend, like I’m watching a loved one make the shittiest decisions ever, and I can’t do anything because I love them. It’s so strange, but I am absolutely captivated by the world you’ve given us. (That being said, have you considered making an old school text based game? Like the system that reads your typed commands and lets you move with the keyboard. You could make so much magic with that.) Thank you for filling my days with stars.

Frustrating and... kind of worth it?

this game is designed to make you scream and throw your phone across the room. it’s set up to make you fail the first... 6 or 7 times? so just get it over with quick. don’t try to survive. you can’t. after 6 or 7 tries, they start you out with more hp and things to help you succeed. i finally beat it and i guess it was worth it. i was going to give 3 stars but hell, i’ve spent so much time with it, i guess it deserves another. i wish they would give a more satisfying ending other than merely setting up the next game, “a dark room.” good game to play on the train/bus or to kill a few minutes now and then.

Incredible

Incredible game, Incredible lore, Incredible ending. Tips for newbies: Do NOT give up. Listen to the game. Learn the story.

Total masterpiece

Alcatraz442

Extremely well made; it's funny to see people giving it 1 star because it was too hard. Probably the greatest part of the game was beating the cake defector and finding the special houses that were pretty grim.

Great Game!!!!

Brilliant. Can't wait for the next from this author. I say author because it is an intricate and beautiful story line that can be played over and over again.

Deceptively simple must-play

If you ever wanted to play a game that looks like it could have been made in 1990 but also makes you tear up more than once, The Ensign is for you. Once you start the game, you'll know pretty quickly if you're cut out for it. Playing on the plane was perfect--I didn't have wifi, so I was particularly motivated to persevere. And if you persevere, you'll be rewarded with a true sense of accomplishment and a surprisingly moving narrative experience (well, surprising if you haven't played A Dark Room, which you should before you play the second game!).

Not as Good as First

A Dark Room was a really good game. It took a while for me to get into it but I eventually loved it and couldn't stop. I then thought why not get the next one for some more fun but it is nothing like the first. It doesn't make sense because this defector is OP and he spawns in the begining a lot and I die right away erasing all progress.

Warning not for the casual gamer

This is an amazing game that brings a great challenge but even though it seems too hard at times, it is definitely rewarding in the end. It took me 3 hours to fully beat it the first time and 8 hours to get 100% completion on it. It brings a lot of fun for 99¢
