Great App

Seattle Rex

As a software developer, this is a great app for me. It’s excellent. I almost didn’t rate it, though. Why? Because of the following sentence from the Release Notes: “If you like Textastic, it would be amazing if you could leave a positive rating or review on the App Store.” Fellas, do you want to know what’s amazing? I’ll give you a few examples: * The human circulatory system * The metamorphosis of a butterfly * Space Travel in all its forms * Biosonar What is not, however, amazing ... even by the most liberal of definitions, is an individual user leaving a positive rating on the App Store. amazing: causing astonishment, great wonder, or surprise Unless you think Texttastic is the worst app ever to be released, you would have absolutely no reason to feel “amazed” by a positive review. In fact, you’ve received over 800 just such reviews, thus rebutting the very claim. I understand that we all live in what can only be deemed the most insincere time in history ... what with perpetual Twitter faux-outrage and whatnot, but we don’t need to perpetuate it. Just say “a few hundred positive ratings would be helpful for our marketing efforts”, and move on. That’s what you mean, we all know it, and we’re all adults. We can handle the somewhat mundane reality of the situation. They all don’t need to be Liberace moments, chock-full of exaggerated pizazz. Best of all, when something happens that really amazes you ... you’ll have a word at your disposal to convey that, instead of a word which has lost all meaning due to insincere overuse. All I ask is that you think about it. Otherwise, well done on the app. It’s not amazing, but it definitely is pretty good.

Good, but would like a "Zen" view mode

Convenient code editor, of course. Would really like to have the title, file name and the status bar disappear when the keyboard is hidden. Just like the Google Docs app does it. Thanks!

The Big T application FANTASTIC

Master-and-Commander

LOVE IT! I am an old mainframe guy, and most of my career I used Xedit. I want to say Kedit was For DOS or Command Line but no GUI. So basically PC based, maybe AIX or Red Hat. Just not sure. My point is Xedit and Kedit were soraly missed. GUI is OK but the dev. For Windows, AIX, or day Redhat stuck to what they knew. Sad. Your T-Rex editor name (I like that better than Textastic name. The other does not sing). I was using NOTES+++ for a while, rich with function, but not intuitive. It would take an investment on time to fully understand. Plus, I really never trusted it. Nothing is Free. How to the get $$. T-isfortext or T-Rex are better names. To the point. I LIKE IT! It’s simple, intuitive, lite-weight, offers numerous function. It’s the closest to a green screen than you can get. The other editor I have is TextEdit and it looks to be very nice. But there is a learning curve and I just cannot spare the time right now. I will sit down with it sooner or later. Wish list. If you could purchase Kedit, not sure it’s avail, and integrate if making it available again would be great. 2 points. (1) you have a really good product with T-Rex (Textastic) do whatever you can to keep quality HIGH. (2) Please Stay far away from subscription base charge back. Do not! Stay away! If you need funds to maintain or grow application, get with me and I’ll propose a model that will do just that.

The perfect notepad for code!

Bioartologist

It’s never let me down! Easy and fast for me to find anything code I need for building, Easy to copy paste send files, Being that it’s on IPhone and MacBook makes it even easier when everything syncs together it’s just the perfect little notepad... I love it! That’s you all!!

The app that should be included with iOS!

astaley

Just like Notepad is to Windows and TextEdit is to macOS, so to Textastic should be to iOS, it’s that good!

Proper detailed updates

Newton42

Keep up the good work. I appreciate that you do detailed change logs. Apple really should not approve change logs that are “various bug fixes and performance improvements”. Those big developers really need to try again!

Please support vim editing mode!!!

Vim190803

Please add vim mode.Leaving vim I can't edit text and code effectively.Moving and editing modifications is not very convenient.I gave this app four stars, and left one star for vim new features.

As perfect as it gets on iOS

wareismike

Thank you so much for this app! I just can’t say enough about how well executed Textastic is. There are so many wonderful features, and all integrated with so seamlessly. I love all the connectivity options, the innovative keyboard, the previews, and even the surprise terminal emulator. Just a steward tool! I couldn’t be happier. ?

The best code editor for iOS

ryankyeong

This editor is amazing, simple, and fluid! The preview option is invaluable. TextExpander integration is incredible. iOS Files implementation—killer. It’s simply the best code editor on iOS. A few features I’d love to have: - Code Commenting via Key Command - Code Folding - Auto Bracket and Parenthesis Pairing - Ability to hide the address bar in Preview Mode - Ability to see the Preview and Editor view side by side on iPad.
