Update: app update available did not fix issue. When the issue is resolved I will update this review. Since moving to the iPhone 12, the app does not connect while on data. The only I can connect is over wifi. There’s no point to the app if it can’t work when I’m not on a wifi network. Please fix it.
Absolutely pointless.

This app is absolutely pointless. We have Tesla solar panels, and we were told that we have to download the app to monitor and login to our account. You can monitor very little regarding your system. You have no idea what amount of the power you are using or how much is being fed into the grid. You can’t pay your bill or access any relevant details on your account. Also,Tesla’s customer service is junk.

Updated: May 9, 2020 Still missing fundamental analytics. Needs companion watch app. Otherwise still pretty darn good. Has all the basics wrapped in a very nice UI. Ability to switch between cars is slick. Would be nice to add some of the analytics that some of the third party apps are offering.

Missing Fit & Finish

This app works, it does the things that make owning a Tesla so much fun. But the application itself is missing that fit and finish! The animations have frame drops, the slow connection time to the car, the delays when toggling buttons or seeing field values update with new data, etc. It’s all rather clunky and the communication in the design leaves a lot to be desired. I wish Tesla would overhaul this app and really tighten up the design, give this app a proper fit and finish! If they can design beautiful interfaces for the car, they can do it for the companion app as well. 4 Stars.

Lots of cool things you can do with your car from the app. *) have the car come to you *) use your phone as the car key 1) pre-heat/cool cabin 2) warm the battery 3) crack the windows, 4) honk the horn, 5) trigger a software update 6) open the trunk or frunk 7) flash the lights 8) know the car’s location.
