Unsatisfying and Upset

Happy Trxie

I tried to delete my account but it wouldn’t work and the service was not at all helpful. I wasn’t given a chance to reset my password after asking and I am still trying to delete my account.

Buggy

Doublesecretpop

Really buggy. My kids comment on not receiving points. The chore will sit in pending and I will never get an approval notice thus no points awarded

Mostly Very Good, But...

Overall, very good. And I think I may become a paying user, but there are some serious load-time issues and a couple bugs/oversights that seem like they should have been addressed out by now. Bug: When l try to use the Advanced scheduling to set up a chore that has more than one week between completions, the interface will not allow me to enter a number of completions different from the number of days in the frequency block I'm trying to use. For instance, if I am trying to enter a chore that needs to be completed X time(s) every X months, it will default to 31 times every X months. If I am trying to enter a chore that needs to be completed X time(s) every X weeks, it will default to 7 times every X weeks. If I try to change it to 1 time every X weeks/months, it will not assign the chore until it reverts back to the auto-populated incorrect value. Oversight: Though it's obvious that SmoresUp is trying to get users to use the app to manage their schedules, the fact is most of us who already use a cloud calendar use Google Calendar. It is so feature rich with countless integrations and a robust development cycle, that very few SmoresUp users would every consider leaving Google in favor of SmoresUp. With that, it would be far more beneficial for SmoresUp to allow users to push the chore schedule to a Google Calendar than to pull the Google Calendar into SmoresUp. Fix those two things and I will gladly pay for the service without hesitation.

Nice but some problems?

This app is great and I think you should download it. But when a child completes a chore the adult has to approve I as a child hate that so my mom said she didn’t have to approve and we found a setting for that. I love s’mores up and honestly think you should download it???

Love it so far!

It’s got a cute interface, it’s easy to understand, for the most part very intuitive. I tried 3 apps and this was by far the easiest to set up and get going. It is a little laggy in syncing and I can’t seem to click the notifications tab in the app, but even with that my son is very excited to try this out!

Was so happy, then complete disappointment

JD+3

I was really enjoying this app. My girls were getting into the different options available and actually doing their chores and checking them off. Then I received notice that I had to subscribe or just have the basics. Still I was happy. Then the app logged me out. My password does not work. I have tried to reset my password, but after submitting multiple requests I have gotten no email with a link to reset. I reached out to the email for customer service and still have not received a response. I’m locked out and no help is being given despite multiple attempts. I guess they only care about the people who subscribe and pay.

Password reset? Support?

im_in_ux_hell

For whatever reason, I was booted out of the app. Had to re-login. Annoying, but it happens. So I try to login, but iCloud didn't save the password and I don't remember it. Fine, then I'll reset it. Provided my email via the app, but never received an email in return so there's no link for me to follow. Can I reset it from the website? No. Doesn't provide a way. Can I email support through the website? No, the form errors. Can I get support thorough the app? No, need to login which I can't do. Can I use the developer support link that's on the app's app store page? No, 404 didn't exist error. No phone number. No address. W. T. F. Absolutely horrible experience. I have a subscription too. So I can't even cancel it. Finally i just found a buried link to ask a question on the site. At the bottom in a site map? Nope. In the site menu at the top? Nope. Just lost in the middle of the extremely long vertical scroll. And it leads me to yet another form, different than the one that errors. Why is it so hard to do this?! It should be dead simple and wildly obvious. All these broken paths to get support are ridiculous.

Great chore app

MegNic8

We originally downloaded this app to help our kids (14, 11, and 10) stay motivated and on top of their chores, but it’s become so much more. The kids love earning and spending their s’mores and I love not having to nag them to do chores. I also have my own chores planned out in the app, I have them set to reoccur daily, every other day or weekly depending on the chore. For someone that’s not naturally tidy, this app works!

It was great until we got locked out of the app

trulythankful

this app has a ton of potential. It set up and has everything I was looking for. I spent 4-8 hours inputting all of the chores and rewards and goals and bonus earn opportunities. It was a little frustrating because sometimes when I’d update a chore that it didn’t need to send a reminder to my son, and change the due time to “anytime” ... it wouldn’t update it and still keep the due time and the notification setting. I even went in and made sure in my settings that it wasn’t set to auto notify. But that was just a small annoyance. The rest was great. UNTIL I got it all set up and went to send an invite to my husband (we share the same email but I wanted to be able to download it to his phone and have him have his own profile. I was just seeing if it would work. But it kicked me off of my app on my phone and when I tried logging into it on his now all it says is “can’t verify credentials”... I even tried pairing my sons and it says the same thing. And my son has a separate email. And I can reset the password- it sends the email to reset the password to our phones and we click and reset the password and it still says the same thing. I even screen shot the passwords to make sure I was typing it in correctly. Yeah it doesn’t let me in. I even tried creating a new account thru a new email I set up specifically so I can have a different email but there’s no way to attach to my original family account and I really don’t want to spend another 4+ hours setting up a new family under all new emails for everyone just for this one app. I emailed support and got the “requested received” auto email and that was yesterday and I haven’t received anything else. Really disappointing because I spent all day yesterday researching different apps that had all of my needs and this one seemed to have it all, until it booted me. Really hope they can sort it out. Otherwise I’ll be forced to go to with a different app.

Good for what it is, we just don’t need all the extras

JuneRhythm

I tried the app to see if it would help motivate my daughter (she’s 8) to track her chores since she was gifted a tablet for Christmas. At first she was engaged with it at and loved seeing her S’mores add up, but she’s honestly lost interest in it already. I’m not sure if we’ll keep using it or not. We personally do not need the extras like the calendar, or connecting with family with the Family Circle or Campfire, and I don’t list my own household tasks on the app. I just needed something basic to help my daughter want to do her chores and keep track of them. The app works great for that. I have her chores listed by time to keep them organized and have included a few bonus things a day like when she tracks her screen time or helps makes dinner. My only complaint is that the as needed chores are not checked off like the daily chores in the Weekly Chore Progress. There are chores for us like put away laundry, unload dishwasher, etc. that are not an everyday chore. Without having a checkmark for those, I’m not entirely sure she gets credit for them and I don’t know what day they were done. So changing that would be a nice feature. I will say that the admin team is fantastic and do seem engaged with users to continue making the app better. Even though we don’t have use for many of the features, overall I think it’s a very good app.
