Quick response time

Submitted a photo for identification. Very quickly, Michael responded to say it was a juvenile red-necked phalarope. Impressive app!

“Identify birds you can’t even see, just by their song!”
Jackie & Harry B.

My brother and I take nature walks around New England historical mansions using this app! It’s brilliant, fun, easy to install and unbelievably priced at a one time price if $10 everything! These app builders really care about the cause behind this. Customer support is the best of any app I have ever used.

Great App for Bird Lovers!
Kel KD.

I love this app. My favorite feature is the “Song ID”. There have been so many times where I’ve heard a bird and thought, “What bird is making THAT noise???” I launch Song ID, hit “record” and get an answer within seconds. Another cool function is that it let’s you see which birds other users in your area are tracking (that way you can keep an eye out for them). Functionally it’s solid too, so I haven’t experienced any glitches or problems while using the app. Just makes watching and learning about birds better!

Song ID stinks

Literally any song I played for it to recognize it tells me it’s in Northern Mockingbird

Exactly What I was looking for!!

It’s been a big help!!! I live near State Parks and wildlife refuges, this app has been able to help me identify many of the birds I’ve been photographing the last few years! I was never able to ID the birds as many guides don’t have pictures of every single type out there. This one has gotten them all so far!

Nice app

I’ve been using the free version of this app for about a year now. I finally decided to upgrade to the paid version because of their option to email pictures to a live person to help ID a bird that Didn’t find a match in the free database. The email came in Less than 24 hours. Michael was who wrote back and he verified the bird and also explained that the bird may not have successfully been Identified because it is molting. I especially like that you can reply to the emails and it is not a robo mail. If you’ve enjoyed the free version for awhile, I recommend you give the paid version a try.

I was having difficulty identifying a bird. Michael from the help team at Smart Bird ID did some research and gave me my answer. He was prompt and I enjoyed the interaction we had during our investigation. I look forward to using the app again.

Must Have Top Birding App!
FWcanuck77

New to the birding scene I have tired a few different birding apps and this one is by far one of the best. It easily has the most expansive list of birds and is great for both domestic and international species. The information provided for each bird is very detailed, much more than other apps or even some guide books. It is also VERY impressive how responsive Michael is to emails regarding requests for additional birds to be added or suggested app improvements. Response time was within the day and sometimes even within the hour! Dedicated birder and app designer!

Disappointed with this app
crazy ama

Every time I wanted to use the app to identify a bird call, there would be an ad and a missed opportunity. The company obviously wants you to purchase the premium. I deleted the app and found a better one.

Great birding app

Awesome app for beginner and advanced birders alike. It’s like a Shazam for bird songs, and it does photo recognition too. It even takes your location and time of year into account to suggest which bird you’re probably hearing/seeing. For those who want to keep track, it has a list of the birds you have recorded (lifetime and year to date). One of my favorite parts is the Bird-a-Day widget. You get a picture of a new bird delivered to your Home Screen every day, and it’s delightful. Try it!
