Useless

I have location and notifications enabled. 4.6+ EQ mere miles from my location—no alert, even after the fact.

4.6 Earthquake tonight- No Alert Issued! FAIL

-df

Just had a 4.6 earthquake tonight. I had my location setting Always On for just such an occasion- and I received NO ALERT! What’s up dev team? What’s up Garceti? Should we discard this app? USGS reports M4.6 - 3km WSW of South El Monte, CA on 2020-09-19 and 11:38pm

Useless

Just had a 4.6 earthquake here in LA. Had my phone in my hand. No ShakeAlertLA alert at all. Just a good, old-fashioned, analog shake alert from Mother Nature instead. Opened the app after the fact and the 4.6 earthquake was listed, and an alert is supposed to come if an earthquake is 4.5 or greater. Yet nothing. Also had absolutely no warning on last year’s 6+ and 7+ earthquakes on July 4 and 5, 2019, both of which were resoundingly felt in LA. The app was supposedly calibrated after those fails, but ... not so much. I triple checked the settings to make sure that they were enabled correctly but have never once received any alert whatsoever. This includes today’s magnitude 4.6, and last year’s 5.4, 6.4, and 7.1 Ridgecrest earthquakes. What exactly is the point of this app? And what if we have an actual earthquake that poses a catastrophic threat to the LA region? Don’t promise a few precious seconds of advance warning that you can’t deliver, people could rely on this to their serious detriment.

No Warning, Great Information

Artist Alvina

Sorry to say, we’ve had 3-4 earthquakes of a 4.5 or greater magnitude and had no warning. A LOT OF GREAT INFORMATION on the app!

What Alert?

Monima15

A 4.6 earthquake just happened, and I got nothing from this app. No notification, no alert, nothing. I open the app after the fact and it didn’t even show the earthquake in recent earthquakes. I have ALL my notifications on for this app, as well as location services. Useless crap app.

Needs to be updated

Okay so the first time my location was near the epicenter of a quake the alert went off after the quake hit. Today we had a 4.5 quake located in south El Monte. I am near there in ELA and the shake alert app didn’t give me any warning. It just alerted me after it hit. I was like no duh Sherlock ?

Doesn’t send notifications

CN0615

We just had a 4.5 (4.8 downgraded) earthquake locally in LA, and it STILL didn’t send out a notification even though it was changed from the previous setting of 5.0+ magnitudes down to 4.5. Settings are all correct per how they should be based on in-app instructions. Needs serious improvement even a year after the Ridgecrest earthquakes.

App Does Not Work

'93 Bruin

We just had a M4.6 earthquake in L.A. County and the app did not work - again - despite USGS data showing that a ShakeAlert was issued. The app has failed to work for previous M4+ quakes before and I have literally never been alerted to a quake by this app. The taxpayers of Los Angeles helped fund this app, the mayor promoted it and encouraged people to download it, and it doesn’t work. It’s a complete boondoggle.

Useless

Just had a 4.6 earthquake September 18 ,2020 at 11:45 didn’t receive an alert at all went to the recent page and it showed up but didn’t give me a notification and it always has my location on. Completely useless won’t work in an emergency.

4.5 earthquake this morning and did not work!

This app is garbage!!! I seriously hope tax payers dollars aren’t being spent on this. 2 times we had a jolt over 4.5 and this has not worked as stated.
