Scruff has been a scummy app for a long time, but this takes the cake. Every update is an attempt to eliminate basic features we had before in the app in hopes of getting you to subscribe. This more recent update takes away the feature of taking a screenshot from a photo someone sends you. If the purpose was to protect users, fine. But, if you subscribe for $15 a month, then you can save the photo. Garbage app, garbage company. Bye Felicia!

App itself functions at 4 stars. Concept, garbage. Back 30 years ago, gays were closeted and afraid to be out in public. Now they’re all sitting on their phones, hiding, lurking, and ultimately using an almost completely non-accountable form of communication to slowly lure people to them, making it seem as if there’s a mutual desire, when often times it’s completely selfish in nature. In SF at least, so many “tech” dudes that have no social skills outside of work, a bar, or social networks. So many open relationships. So many married men. So many Muscle4Muscle torsos and chests. It’s disgusting. I am also someone who can strike up a conversation with anyone in real life and not be embarrassed or anxious. So this seems like a step back for me. THE WORST PART: The ability for people to just put “PReP” in their profile and have seemingly fearless sex multiple times per month with multiple partners. Herpes, Clam, Syph, all of these are on the rise and somewhere like Strut doesn’t test for herpes or other diseases that are just as serious as HIV in my opinion. The app acts like it’s the best, full of features, and just amazing, when in reality, it is garbage, confusing, missing so many key features, and promotes lack of empathy to other human beings (unless they fit into your desires) Furthermore, they dangle “high ranking” hot dudes on your main page to keep you clicking and clicking and clicking.
Can’t complain - too much, anyway.

The free version of the app is good. I don’t have any complaints, besides the fact that I can’t read old messages! Seriously, it’s kinda ridiculous. To have to pay to be able to read the chat I shared with someone else? No other app that I’ve ever used has required this. If I didn’t get as many guys on here as I do, I’d have long ago deleted it for that reason alone.

First off every time they update the app it becomes less appealing! It is nothing like it use to be and a lot of great features have been taken away. Secondly, if you aren’t in your 20s or have an Adonis body be ready to have your pics scrutinized by their moderators! I submitted a picture that shows barely 2” of underwear fabric just above a mirror frame and it was rejected. When I contested it through there customer support, which is what you’re directed to do if you feel it’s rejected in error, I was dismissed and told never to use support again unless it’s serious. I sent pictures along with my complaint of other approved profiles with guys full body underwear pictures, semi-hard, full outlines and pubic hair showing but of cours about 10 years younger and off the cover of a magazine or clearly packing a monster. I was told to go report them, not the point! I even went as far to reach out to both Eric Silverburg and Johnny Skandros themselves about their customer support and bias handling with their policies, nothing. I’ve never reached out to the CEO and founders of a business and had them act as if they could care less about their paying customers. I’ve been a member since Scruffs infancy and a paying member for most of it. About to lose one more for poor customer service, all for absolutely ridiculous reasons! ***UPDATE***The response to the issue of poor customer support is to contact customer support about customer support. I some how don’t thank Daniel O is going to do anything about his own customer service skills or correct the issue I’ve already contacted him multiple times about. Why should he care to act any different when the CEO and founder seem to not care and this is the kind of response that a bad review gets on the App Store? ***UPDATE 2.0*** Contacted Scruff Support AGAIN because that’s what the Developer said to do, though I’m sure I was probably complaining to Daniel O about Daniel O. My ticket went days being ignored and then was just closed with no response. Can I give negative stars?

Scruff will always be better than Grindr, Think bots bots bots! Anyway, as of latest update, they legit took away the ability to screenshot! Not only that, but then all pix are locked, even my own pictures!! The subscription pricing to your service is not equal value of what is provided. Granted, there are a lot of less bots, but come on y'all! I'm seeing more ads... ya know what I'm gonna shut up. I'm gonna continue to use it as infrequently as I do, it serves its purpose... to simply pass the time!

As apps go Scruff is one of the easiest to navigate , but one think they keep touting I’d the “ Match” feature which is a joke. The majority of the guys they put on my list daily are 300-600 Miles away. The rest are totally opposite of what I look for. Instead of match they should call it “ random lists of guys
