Scout GPS for Tacoma

Can never connect to vehicle. Delete account and app and start over almost every time I need it and have only been able to use it 4 times in 6 months. Can’t connect to vehicle.

Not user friendly!

Krissynzoey

This is the most unfriendly app for navigation on the market. Cons: Passenger cannot type in an address while the car is in drive. You have to close the app on your phone then type in the address then reopen the app on the cars system and if you are lucky it will transfer over. If you use your phone (pass it off to the kids for entertainment) and the app is running in the background you cannot see the map on the screen. Saving addresses rarely work. Doesn’t update with traffic, construction or slowdowns like google or Apple. Rarely has the fastest route. Pros: When I can find one, I will update my review. Developers: Please do not ask me to submit this in an email. You see it. You have it. If you want Toyota to continue to use you solely I suggest you fix it. They will eventually listen to their customers and want to stay competitive.

Absolutely terrible

DickSF

This application fails more often then it works. It is shameful that Toyota would allow such a miserable feature on its high-end cars. I am imagining a class action suit against the company.

Toyota’s worst decision ever

Houston- Cajun

Terrible app crashes constantly is been six months since I bought my Camry and still this app doesn’t work well Voice of the customer Toyota friends: get rid of this company ! People will NoT Pay for this as it doesn’t add any value to customer we’d . They way I search for addresses now is I go to google then over Bluetooth I get directions needed. It’s unfortunate that I’m some way we have to pay for this system that we are not using At all.

Very frustrating

After trying and working with this app I fixed my GPS needs with a Garmin $200 GPS. Forget that “Scout”.

Not up to Toyota Standards

Dave.Stang

I agree with many who have rated this app. I hate it. It is not usable at all. It doesn’t allow transfer from phone to car, it doesn’t allow entry while driving EVEN IF YOU HAVE A PASSENGER??? What the heck???? I’m driving and I need to go somewhere and I want my lady to type in the address so we can go BUT NOOOOOOO I have to pull over put the car in park and wait a LONG time for the app to finally tell me how to go? This is dumb because now I just use google and Waze on my phone anyway - this nav app is a complete waste of time and money

So disappointed

Bleehow

Our 2018 Camry came with Scout instead of the GPS like we wanted. It doesn’t display the speed limit, like the GPS will. It also doesn’t notify us of traffic problems, like our 2016 Camry GPS did. I guess the navigation part is OK, I really have not had to use it much. Those 2 features are what we wanted

Worst ever

I agree with others. I have a 2018 Camry and I can’ stand this this navigation! I have a 2015 Scion and I love the nav on it. This is the least user friendly navigation system ever.

Navigation System Should Get LOST

Walliga Tor

I bought my TOYOTA Camry not knowing anything about this navigation system, and I still don’t because I’ve gotten so frustrated In trying to get it to work that I don’t use it. So I can’t provide much details, except to say most people feel the same as I do.

Love the car— HATE the Scout Nav Ststem

Another Dissatisfied Diana

Bought a 2018 Camry XLE Hybrid. Love everything about the car, but sorry I bought it with this as the required navigation system. My old 2012 Toyota Prius had a far better, more user-friendly, accurate system with better map graphics options. Spent close to an hour on the phone with the technician to get it working properly with my I-phone X... so now I can actually see a map! Eureka! This involved removing the software on the phone and care and uploading an update. BUT, the map isn’t great. It seems to have only 2 graphics options 2-D and 3-D... and they look pretty much the same. And, unlike the old Prius system, I have to use my cell phone data plan to get the 2nd rate info. What if I am in an area without coverage.... And, to get the map communication, I have to have my phone wired with a data cable creating clutter and mess. And, on a short drive from my house, it directed me to turn on a street that no longer exists and where it was is called a totally different name. I’ve lived here for 15 years and that “street” hasn’t been there for at least that long. Shall I go on??? The mapping of points of interests—-I.e. gas stations— It doesn’t map them—- just gives you a list to choose from which you can then choose for directions. Forget that. I would be better off with a Car play system and use Google maps! Hope Scout GPS has a MAJOR MAKE-OVER in the works because I wouldn’t buy another car with it or even recommend my otherwise great car to anyone!
