Happy about my new 2018 Cam but this navigation this forced on us just the worst & I will see it getting better anytime soon. NOTHING about it is user-friendly?

Toyota was better off not including a navigation app at all. This one is ridiculous and is so frustrating I end up mad at it every time I attempt to use it. You have to use the app on your phone to use it in the car. Yet, if you type an address into the phone, it doesn’t transfer to the car. It freezes often. It also doesn’t show up as a map application in the car. Only step by step written directions. It doesn’t allow you to search in the car while driving, even if it’s a passenger trying to navigate. And even if it did, there’s no way you could get it right because it doesn’t recognize any points of interest. Only addresses. And even then it’s not accurate so I don’t trust it at all.

Got the 2018 Camry and this app is trash at the moment. I’ll update my review if something changes.

I had high hopes, purchased my Lexus without Nav system because I thought it would be way easier to keep everything on iPhone. 99% of time it doesn’t recognize the request, says try again later. And I can’t find an alternative, I guess Lexus wants to lock up market with scout.

This is the biggest piece of crap software I’ve ever seen. I cannot believe that Toyota is actually associated with this.

It would be relatively easy to detect a passenger via the passenger airbag in switch...so that the keyboard is not disabled! Passenger’s could also be required to agree that they are a passenger as with GasBuddy, and/or agree to liability on an initial screen. Alternatively, as a passenger a location and directions found via Scout maps....should be LINKED to Scout GPS! As it is directions can only be heard, not visualized. This lack of integrated functionality makes these Apps among the worst of any directional systems. Toyota and Scout need to get together and fix this. As it is this Navigation system, which also relies on consumer’s data plans another huge negative. Scout should use the GPS link without consumers footing the bill!...as does our Garmin Nuvi...which has to sit on the dashboard because of Scout’s dysfunction. All major consumer auto reviewer’s have noted the downfall of these systems, which include Scout GPS/Maps

Why not allow me to use other gps apps from my phone? Im already using my data for the Scout app, why not allow me to use apple maps?

This app does not provide traffic incident updates. The information is not current on streets. It would be nice to be able to select surface roads vs interstate. It does get confused during a long trip. It can lose its way and it takes some time to catch up. During this confusion the map did not match the voice prompts. I can’t trust it. It is not user friendly.

The “Search, recents & likes” icons are always in the way when I’m driving my Tundra, the maps app in my iPhone does a better job. Get rid of the three big icons, then I’ll consider using Scout again. Not user friendly at all, no way to adjust what displays on the vehicle screen.

Not user friendly and gave incorrect directions. Said my destination was on the right when it was on the left. It made no adjustment when I missed a turn and took a different road.
