Stylish, attractive, and a lot of fun!

The screenshots are impressive, but still don't do justice to the sharp, crisp graphics. This is a visually beautiful game and the music and sound do much to capture the setting and genre. Amidst the beauty of the scenery, there is a generous amount of splattering blood and gore. The game does come with an advisory of age 17 content before you download it. I've not been through the entire game, but so far that seems to be due to the blood. The premise of the game is martial combat with swords, so this shouldn't come as a great surprise. The gameplay is elegant; that is the combat is simple but with a lot of depth. On a console game you'd manipulate the joystick and buttons to perform combos, and this game you do something similar - your finger strokes create the combos. As you progress you earn experience which the unlocks new moves and combos. This happens automatically and you're notified on screen when you have new combos available to you. There is a training (dojo) mode to provide a chance to practice the combos. In fact there are multiple dojos of differing levels of difficulty. The overall concept of the game is quite straight forward. You fight and kill minions and villains to progress. That's it. In between scenes a manga style comic provides a story to the events unfolding. This is well done. It's not a terribly complex game compared to an RPG, buts it's not trying to be. It has a singular focus, and what it does, it does remarkably well. At the time of this writing I bought the game for 4.95 US dollars. The production values of this game easily justify that. It may be worth more. I recommend this game!

Bootleg ninja gained ds

No onscreen control pad! Yay! Touch here, samurai goes there. Swipe across enemies to slash. Time counters. Develop combos. Dismember limbs and shed some blood. Great music, graphics, controls. @ five bucks, it's a steal. Haven't finished yet so I can't comment on game length. Get it!

Good idea but needs a lot of work.

This game looks really fun from the screenshots and is, but the levels lag on, take forever, repetitive enemies, and the controls are a little odd feeling and unresponsive half the time. It is fun and has good graphics, but not worth $4.99...maybe $1.99.

Nice visuals but the lags

The game is very stylish, but it's too slow to be compared to ninja gaiden and god of war. The iPad is more powerful than the ds, but this game's response time is light years behind. Even if nothing changed but the speed at which the samurai runs the game would feel less sluggish. Combat response time needs to improve. Blocking and dodging is ambiguous. Maybe hold down a portion of the screen to block like ninja gained on the ds? I would love to change my rating from 2 stars to 5 stars but the game needs an update. I hope there will be improvements made because I like the direction this game is taking the iPad.

Great graphics, garbage controls.

The controls are terrible, absolutely unplayable. Waste of 5 dollars. I hope an update fixes this but I doubt it. I want my money back. Uggh.

Slashing is it?

Jfitness123

It does look ok but you just walk around and slice people up. Thats it. Walk up to people and cut them up over and over again. This would be an awesome 99 cent game but for 5 bucks I was hoping for more progress, levels and real game play. It was cool the first time somebody was cut in half but I have only had the game for a day and I am already tired of it. Going to delete it.

Sick game !!

Nato006

Love it , great graphics ,cool sounds :))

Good Looking, Average Controls

callmmm

Its beautiful and only $5, but the whole time I kept thinking of how much better Ninja Gaiden DS's controls are. This feels robotic and shallow in comparison. I know you get what you pay for, but sorry, the bar for touch hack and slash has been set years ago on inferior hardware. Update or come up with smooth controls on round 2. Samurai: Way of the Robot gets a three for now. Not bad but not addicting or playable for any considerable amount of time.

This game is sick!!!

ONEHENDRIX

I don't even play games but this is a definite must have. Good work guys!

Worst app ever

SonicTechno

Are you joking me? This feels like a poorly designed game, there is seriously no action what so ever. The best part about this game is the title screen because the samurai is chopping people up. I wish I could get my money back and rate this -5 stars. WARNING DO NOT BUY THIS APP IT IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!
