Great

This is the sort of game you expect to find on a console. The graphics are better than the stuff on the Wii. The mechanics are perfect for the iPad. The story us decent and beautifully portrayed. My only issue is that I would have liked some occasional break from just hacking and slashing.

Pretty, but awful controls

Supposedly there are a bunch of combos, but the control response is so fidgety, it amounts to randomly swiping on the screen and hoping to actually kill someone. Complete waste of money, don't get fooled by the pretty screenshots.

Pretty, but feels like an Addicting Games game

This game is fun, but highly repetitive! The controls are ok, if you starting swiping too fast then the character won't respond. The graphics look great with the vibrant colors and scenery! Overall, the game feels rushed and more of something to just pass the time.

Amazing

This game is a great mature game that gamers will eat up. The app store needs more titles like this to truly be considered a great gaming platform.

Good start but..

Too short! Beat the game in less than an hour, even on Hard. Also very buggy - game has frozen on me every single time at a certain point in the first dojo and I cannot progress... All in all a gorgeous and imaginative game though. Suggestions for update: - More combos - Reward proper timing of swipes with more damage; right now it seems random whether you get an instant kill - How about incorporating a two-finger swipe and let him use the wakizashi(sp?) in some combos?

fun slasher but...

not deserving of the five stars because of several 'flaws' it is very stylish and the graphics fit very well with the setting of this game. for the price, the game is also quite lengthy if you consider the fact that after awhile, you put the game down because your fingers get tired swiping. also, ruthlessly slashing at your enemies to dismember their body parts is quite satisfying. but there are flaws... swiping doesn't seem to register sometimes, especially when countering foes. it gets to the point that although it is an interesting way to play, the swiping mechanic feels gimmicky. Combo moves also don't seem to contribute much to strategy or a sense of different styles - they just allow you to swing the sword more times. They don't contribute much also because enemies are often blocking, resulting in the game being more or less a counter-enemy-attack-at-the-right-moment sort of gameplay. It would be nice if the player's sword could be upgraded for more damage, especially since some segments are lengthy and frustrating when the enemy can chain combo you because your swipe didn't register correctly, forcing you to retry the segment because of a silly death. Oh and did I mention the horrible camera angles at times? Swipe to attack without some form of secondary touch control to move is bad when coupled with poor camera angles.

Amazing game

This is a truly amazing game. It's become the app du jour to pull out when I want to show people what an iPad can do. The graphics are gorgeous, rich, and vibrant. The gameplay is fun for passing a few casual minutes waiting for a meeting to start or for hour-long sessions.

Fun, but...

This game is fun, it has both a storyline and arcade mode that is totally fun. But, I experience frequent game freezes during the dojo mode. This app needs a few bugs worked out and it would be 5 stars.

Great art style

But gets boring super quick, not very engaging

A Gem among iPad games

It is rare for me to write reviews for any apps, but a game like this truly warrants one. I'll keep it simple. All around, Samurai: Way of the Warrior is unique. It features not only a unique gameplay experience, but also incredible graphics. The game's graphics are like playing a 3D cartoon in High def. This, bundled with cool comic-styled story pages, really set it apart from the norm of games for the iPad. Although the controls are a bit difficult to grasp at first, they become simplistic and smooth as you progress through the story. Combo moves are fluid and easy to pick up as well. I highly recommend this fantastic game to anyone! It really did astonish me.
