Nice App, best so far, but...
crackerbarrell12

Truly the best Russian language learning app I've seen yet. The ability to add your own words to study your own stuff is great. It wasn't clear to me how to enter Cyrillic text into the "add words" feature, so I emailed the author. He responded in less than an hour, with these instructions, which instantly made this app so much more fun and useful to me: "My program can take input from any language. Just go to: Settings icon > General > International > Keyboards > Russian. You can then change keyboards with the small globe next to the space bar." Works like a charm. Worth the $5.99 price. A couple of criticisms: Most of the Russian language apps I've seen thus far are full of a small number of obvious/easy Russian words: This one kind of goes to the other extreme. For example, here are some of the first few verbs you'll see if you just practice verbs: Orate Distort Evince Ripen From the adjectives/descriptives: indecent extinct crotchety sere You get the picture. I don't want to sound overly critical. This is well worth the money. Just wish it had a way to let it know what level or language proficiency you wanted to test. Thanks!

Good app but poor word choice.

Also no English to Russian option

Great but...
Edmondo

This app would be ideal if... 1. The stress was indicated to help with pronunciation. 2. The sets of words were broken into subsets: beginner, intermediate, advanced. This should be a huge improvement to an already great app. (the above comments were inserted by default but were exactly what I was going to say!!!!)

growing nicely

When I first bought an earlier version of Russian Flip, I grew a little disappointed by its lack of certain traits. In the past few months, I have been impressed with the updates, and it is now up to and beyond my original expectations. The program is very useful, and, more importantly, effective. I agree with another reviewer that the stress marks are needed to learn the correct pronunciation

Great learning app
Kapoita

I married a Russian a few years ago and always wanted to learn to speak and read the language so I could communicate better with my mother in law. I could always understand the conversation but I couldn't participate, but after practicing with this app I have retained more vocab.

Really impressive.

I'm floored by the amount of content here. Plus I am able to study by word difficulty. That may sound unimportant, but there are times that I just want to restudy the words I am familiar with. At other times I want to try learning new and harder words. I can switch back and forth, and the app keeps a tab in the background of where I am in each difficulty level. It saves all that stuff without me having to do anything. Thoughtful polish and distinctions like that make this app great.

Maybe too many words
Вил

Lilliputin? Mawkish? I'm giving it 5 stars because it really is the best program out there, but maybe if we could start with words such as "to walk" and "cafe" and then work our way up progressively... I don't even know what "piticious" means in English...

Could be better
Лиз

I'm not sure how words like "rend" and "anew" ended up in the allegedly "easy" batch, but it's fairly frustrating to someone looking for a quick review of those words you were supposed to learn in your first year of Russian. The design is great, but the program would be way better if I didn't feel like I had to customize lists using old textbooks for basic level words to make the best use of it.

Pronunciation

I love the app but would appreciate having stress marks so I could verify if I am pronouncing it correctly. That would make it five star. A great app nonetheless.
