Fix your app

Redrat6

Please fix the app, I’m sick of deleting emails I need because it can’t figure out what email I’m actually swiping on! This has been an issue for months!!!

Service is fantastic, app could use an update

DanielJD489

Let me get this out of the way, the service is fantastic, the computer browser experience is great, and the services they give are top quality. Unfortunately the iOS app is lacking and a bit clunky. I almost considered linking it to the standard Mail app but it was much easier to just get this. If the is app can get updated, it’s not only the best email service i’ve used, but it’s also the best free email service that i have used.

Crash & Delete, love and hate

I did my homework on Protonmail to find secure, free (or at least valuable) software. It’s no frills, relatively inexpensive premium costs and privacy promises really attracted me; the program is simple and unobtrusive but does everything you need with the supposed advantage of privacy. Whenever I had an issue, customer service was fairly fast to respond and although they were obviously primarily prompted responses, they got the job done. I am interested my most valuable correspondences, photos etc. with the program. This included photos and correspondences with my departed daughter, things that were highly valuable to me in many ways. Obviously (now) a huge mistake. I’ve had Protonmail over a year now, just paid my premium subscription again, which is about $45 at this time, only to have my email passwords hacked/changed/whatever for the second time in a row. I had not changed my password the first time this happened, cried many times over what I had lost, chalked it up to “things happen.” Leading up to that, small and strange issues with the program glitching occurred but support was helpful in remedying it. Years, this is Supposedly an encrypted program that even their company cannot read it, so when you lose your password the only way to retrieve it any of your emails again are saved files, did you remember the password. That being said, this time I have definitely not changed my password (again), yet I cannot get into ProtonMail in any way shape or form, going by everything that they had previously advised me. After digging more into this company, I find that it is common practices to remove access on your account if there is “illegal activity“. There’s nothing illegal I am involved with, but it does pose the question that if they can tell whether or not you’re doing something illegal… Aren’t they able to read your messages? So I’m not even a couple weeks into paying my annual subscription and several requests for support have gone unanswered. My last one informed them that I no longer wish to be a part of a program that I cannot utilize nor can hold up to its promises-still no response. Judge for yourself.

App. Will not allow my proton email as username to set up account

The skinny

Can only have one free email account. Can’t add other email accounts. Doesn’t support iOS dark mode. Other email clients free versions are feature rich. Too expensive for what premium offers. Uninstall.

Missing unread mail filter.

The app is solid but I wish it had the option to view only unread email like Outlook has.

Some good, some bad

I love protonmail’s privacy. This is just about the app. It mostly works well but often crashes when I click a push notification to launch the app. This is just an annoyance. In addition, there is no dark mode.

Don’t fake being a better company, actually do it!

From the proton website “Please note that when you change your plan, all changes become active immediately. This means if you downgrade your account, you will immediately lose access to all premium features that came with your old plan. “ I was going to use proton but I don’t approve of those terms. Not because I would downgrade and lose a few bucks. But this is a prepaid service, if you can’t cancel it in advance and still use it for as long as you paid for it then you are no better then big tech. Unless you offer refunds and failed to put that in the help article. Even with that I still wouldn’t use it unless you had a choice when you canceled. If I paid for a year or a month I want that long no matter when I cancel the service. Don’t act better when apple does that part at least. Privacy is important or else I wouldn’t even have considered proton. But other things are important too. Not just one thing or the other. Thank you!!

Never Looked Back

I switched to Proton from Gmail over 2 years ago and never looked back. Reliable, beautifully designed email service with an ethical business model. Highly recommend Proton if you care about your privacy.

Great app, hold off on the update

Great app in general. Lean and efficient, can handle several accounts at the same time. The app write-up summarizes capabilities accurately. Currently there is an error in the most recent version of the app such that you can’t send .pdf attachments. No way that I know of to revert to the prior version, so don’t update if you often send .pdf files using the app. Web interface still works perfectly fine.
