But where is Mars. It is not appearing. Sept 5,2020 it should show on the app close to the moon?

I have use this app for years and frequently show it to friends and neighbors. They immediately have to find the app and install it on their phones. The sky 3-D view is fascinating, as is the information about the various celestial bodies and all of the attributes are interesting to read and reread.

This app has a great map of the sky and constellations. It’s a wonderful aid in helping you find the constellations and planets in real time. The animated globes of each of the planets and the sun and moon have entertained by children as they grow up. This app has been around since I had my first generation iPod touch in 2009. It hasn’t changed much but it’s always been free and it doesn’t have ads. Thank you for making this app!

Very good app to see and confirm planets. It creates lot of interest to view sky every night, spot a bright object and then confirm it using this awesome App. I have a binoculars but now after using this app want to buy a telescope. Thank you Peter.

Planets are too large, to close as compared to the human eye perspective. Other stars should be named rather than only the constellations.

I love using this app to teach my kids about the constellations and planets of our solar system!

Tonight my friend and I were admiring a particularly bright celestial object. “I wish I knew what it is,” said she. “I can tell you!” I enthused. I pulled out my trusty Planets app, pointed it at the planet in question, and we immediately had our answer. (Mars.) This app does exactly what I want it to - tells me what I’m looking at. (It would be cool if you could tap on individual stars and find out their names, and if you could adjust the “visible” selection on a sliding scale to account for light pollution. I can only see a dozen or fewer stars and planets in our big city. But I still like knowing what they are.$

While it shows rise and set time for planets, it doesn’t show meridian time or meridian altitude. Those pieces of information are important in order to plan when planets will be at their maximum altitude above the horizon, and what time that will occur.

I have not used this app in a long time or any other for stargazing so I’m glad to see it’s still available and works great. No lag and very cool that you can see the sky “below” you-very helpful for those new to the hobby.
