...gone from (IMO) a fairly apolitical stance in its documentary reporting to what I would call “...here is the latest victim...let’s develop a new government program to pour money on them” reporting. Irritating to me. Used to be a great program.
Constantly buffering

Have this app on my Apple TV and it’s constantly buffering. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Acorn, BritBox, none of those have this problem, just your PBS app. Please fix!

...that the PBS Mobile App is STILL the worst streaming app, going on 10 years now. Every “improvement” is cosmetic, and never addresses the problems with navigation and ease of use, bookmarking progress, syncing across platforms, etc. Feedback must either be ignored or just not understood by programmers whose talents fall short of the task. But if I were largely supported by tax dollars I guess I wouldn’t give a toss about customer satisfaction either. P.S. This would be a one star ⭐️ review, but I’m generously granting a star for programs offered - when I can be bothered to use the crappy App to check.
App holds its own, surprisingly; content great, unsurprisingly

The app is great. Thought it’d be a let down, but it’s actually fast and smooth. The content is of course the great PBS stuff you’d expect. Not sure why this has three stars—looks like maybe people are disappointed about having to be a member? If you have an iPhone I’d hope you can afford to help keep PBS afloat. If not it’s always free on TV.
What about disadvantaged people?!?

Really terrible of you guys to only offer streaming content to people who can afford to donate. PUBLIC BROADCASTING CORP! You get donations from people and public funds! For a company such as yourselves how hypocritical to be so elitist! Your educational FREE over the air programming should be free for EVERYONE to watch through streaming, not just some people who have money.

Update: 2020/10/13 FINALLY! This app is up-to-date with the latest software/devices—with a very smooth and fluid UI—and all the issues I previously reported have been resolved. Thank you! ============================== Updated: 2019/12/25 For the issues that were fixed, thank you! - The home indicator now disappears during playback (but you still have to tap the screen to get rid of the show title/video scrubber) ?♂️ - I don’t have near as many commercials as before ? - STILL no picture-in-picture mode, or a fast forward button ⏩ - Streaming seems to be quite a bit better — no more black screen of death/black beauty, or the loading icon being stuck on the screen ⬛️? - No keyboard shortcut support (yet ?) Waiting for the next update. 2019/03/06 Everyone has their issues with this app, and, for me, most of them are pretty spot on with everyone else’s. My main frustrations: 1. On devices with no home button, I wish the Home Indicator would disappear during viewing as on other streaming services. 2. I didn’t start seeing commercials until I began paying for a Passport subscription... seems kinda backwards to me ? 3. There is no picture-in-picture support for iPad 4. There is no fast-forward button 5. Sometimes during streaming, the loading circle appears and stays on the screen; usually, tapping the rewind button a few times rids it, but still quite annoying 6. The app does not keep track of your viewing AT ALL, so you have to always remember which episode you last watched (of a series). And, with that... 7. Yes, the TV App does (usually) remember your next episode, but no matter if you finished the previous or not, it will always show the next episode. 8. [This would be a great added bonus] With other services, if you are using a smart keyboard with your iPad (Pro), you can start/pause streaming with the space bar, control volume with the up/down arrows, and RR/FF 15 seconds with the left/right arrows — this would be GREATLY welcomed. 9. Add a support button within the app... and, on the website. I would have rather contacted PBS technical support directly before making this review, but they make it pretty difficult to be reached; every screen on the website has a “Donate” button prominently displayed, but nowhere could I find a customer support tab/button. PBS is supported by the people... please support us.

I use this app from Portugal via VPN. All is well, I look up the show I want to watch, I hit play. The message reads. Unknown Error. This does not happen on other devices. I tried several times and one day it worked. I watched a few episodes, and then Unknown Error appears again. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled. Still the problem persists. Any advice would be appreciated. Until a month or two ago, I had no problems. I am not sure if this is related to the latest iOS update or if this is device specific. Developer Response: You have not answered the question. I am a 58 year old female without children. I am looking at programs such as Jamestown, Finding ,Your Roots, etc. My membership to PBS is up to date. VPN connected to the US has worked for the last two years and now it has not. Do you know what VPN is? If not, please refer this question to someone who does.

Annoyance du jour ~ can’t open a link from a search engine to share w/ others, will always go to app. Way to make it impossible for me to promote PBS to non-supporters ?
