Great game, flawed app

Nyxiom

The game itself is fantastic and faithful to the physical counterpart. However the app has issues that make it painful to play. Linking with an asmodee account is clunky at best and there is no auto sign in or saving of account details so you'll have to put in your details every single time you open the app. This isn't a huge deal, what is a huge deal though are in main menu adds for expansions you haven't purchased that in my experience freeze on the screen and cannot be closed about 75% of the time, forcing you to close and relaunch the app... just to manually log in to asmodee again and pray the ad doesn't freeze again... or you'll be doing it all over... again.

No shop?

Buzzkil54321

It's a great game and easy to learn. Very true to the actual card game. The story is pretty lame so far and not necessary. However, the shop won't open to let me purchase the other adventures. I've played and conquered all three scenarios on all 3 difficulty levels and have nothing to do. May as well get rid of the app.

Buggy game and forced tutorial

Eyedontwantone

You cannot skip the awful tutorial. You may have played pathfinder before, but they won't let you skip the tutorial. The tutorial is also bad. The game is buggy too, crashes randomly, especially on older hardware (iPad 2 crashes if I try to run more than 2 characters. Runs fine on an iPhone 7). The bugs range from game breaking to have to force close the app and restart it because it get stuck. Certain rolls are also messed up and not implimented properly, especially on monsters with multiple rolls required. Many of the scenarios are have absurd requirements and require specific party compositions if you have any hope of winning. The "story" is a joke. Inventory management is a mess. It stacks the deck against you in later scenarios. Text on cards is nigh unreadable on phones because it's so small. Wasted opportunity on good IP.

Love this game

CheryPom16

I have been playing the Pathfinder Adventure Tabletop version and love that the app version is here. Very much enjoying this game.

Can't access store on iPhone

Carmorhcp

Played as far as I could without purchasing anything and loved it. Would like to continue playing but am unable to access the store...when I click on the button nothing happens.

Just too many bugs

EngineerDadMI

I really enjoyed playing the nine games before they game stopped working. I was unable to log in. Unable to use the shop feature (talked about by many folks). Unable to earn gold to move forward. Unable to... after only nine games. I am sure this app will be better in the future. It did teach me how to play the board game.

No store?

Woooonnnnaaap

Love playing this game on my phone when I'm bored, I've now played through the first three scenarios with very few bugs, but can't access the store to continue. Quite a shame.

Great concept and execution

Helioshade

First of all, I love the DnD theme in general, so this review may be a bit flawed. I've gotten through the first three encounters on medium difficulty, and I'm still enjoying this game a ton. One problem I've seen starting off is the clunkiness of the encounter system. Although I eventually have come to deal with it, it still bugs me how some people may quit the game early due to the slow tutorial and awkward encounters. Another problem I still have is the annoyance of having to discard my entire hand each card separately if I make a bad roll. It's annoying how there isn't a "Discard All" function (that I'm aware of), as it makes the action of doing so just... shameful. The grind is also somewhat annoying; I've tried saving up for another character since I started, and I'm still a few hundred off. It may just be my not getting the second set of encounters, but it's annoying at least for me that I have to invest 400 gold to get back my money's worth in somewhat of a long period of time or save up for a new character though beating legendary mode (it's probably apparent that I'm free to play).Maybe making beaten encounters still give off some reward, albeit a much smaller reward, for beating them again would make the grind at least somewhat less taxing. Overall I love the aesthetic of the game and enjoy it a ton as my go-to time-spender for when I'm bored and feel like getting a crack at beating a dragon. Definitely recommend it to any DnD lover, but also to everyone in general.

Love this game

Adam W. (607)

After DMing through some of RotR I was familiar with Pathfinder and the story, this is a great way to experience it. Love the card system and that it's single player and easy to choose how much time you have to spend on stories and actions. Definitely recommend paying the $25 for all of Rise of the Runelords.

Well Done

Warhammer22

Well done app. I have had no issues with it except for logging into my Asmodee account. The game is good and I am looking to pick up a copy of the actual board/card game.
