Owlet sock and cam

We do love our sock and cam and currently still use both for our 10 month old. My husband jokes that I will still put this on our child when she is sixteen! It’s a peace of mind to know we have and extra set of eyes while we are sleeping and while she is sleeping! I also love that when the grandparents come over to watch her for us that I am still able to check in on her while she is sleeping to give me peace of mind. Pros for both, we love that while we are not at home we are still able to check on her without needing WiFi. We also love that you can look back the next day and see the pattern of how she slept. The night cam is great and so the sound. Sometimes we can even hear her breathing. We also love how flexible the cam is on its base. The sock is great too and love that it comes in three sizes. We love that it monitors her while we are sleeping or doing something else, and gives us security. Cons for both, we have a lot of trouble with the sound! When the sound works it works awesome, when it doesn’t work it goes in and out and sometimes it just randomly stops. We don’t like that if there is no WiFi or bad WiFi signal then you are unable to use the cam. The sock tends to signal false alarms which of course gives us heart attacks making us wake the baby and making sure she is ok. Not a big fan of the base having to be in or super close to the baby’s bed due to when the alarm does go off for any reason, it’s right there and wakes the baby! When the cam and sock go out and you have to restart it all, until you have done it a time or two, it’s not the easiest thing to do. And lastly you for most use your phone as the monitor to watch the baby and listen to the baby, even tho there is an option for background nose, so you can use your phone to do other things, you can not see your baby. I wish there was some way of having a small little box in the corner of your phone that will stay up when you are using your phone.

The video monitor in the app never works! It’s usually trying to connect even if we have a perfect WiFi connection. Also don’t think the temperature is ever correct since we have a Kelvin temp monitor & it’s always more accurate & different than the Owlet thinks. Work on your programming!!

So our video sound goes in and out ALOT. It just completes goes off even with the background often chosen. We had to buy a backup monitor so we can rely on something to hear her wake up in the middle of the night.

Sock connectivity

Sock connection to the app has been horrible. For the last 2 weeks I have not been able to see my sons readings. I contacted support and they just said to wait for a software update. I am frustrated.

Cam loses sound even with latest updates!!

The sock works great but the camera loses sound. It will just stop and there is no way to know since it’s quiet in baby’s room. I reached out to owlet and they have no fix for it. I don’t recommend buying the camera but the sock is good. Updates have not fixed the issue. Unreliable!!!

Sound Always Disconnects

You are better off buying a regular baby monitor. The sound cuts out every 2 minutes.

This new app has great features - like the sleep history and graphs. However, the owlet sock needs to be manually connected every night. There have been times where I put it on my child and turn on the base, yet it’s not connected to my phone. Most recently, my husband and I found out that when either of us try to manually connect it to our phones, it automatically disconnects the other. So we cannot monitor an owlet sock simultaneously anymore? Because of these issues we’ve had since being forced to switch to the new app, if I would have known, I would not have purchased this product.

Constantly losing sound

Unreliable & disappointing. It was ok up until about 2 weeks ago, then the audio started going in and out. I could deal with the few seconds of delay in cam & audio but now it’s just gone down the drain. What good is a baby monitor if you can’t hear or see what’s going on in your babies room?

Everything is great except camera audio cuts out constantly!!!

No matter if I have audio on “on” or “background” it cuts out literally every 5 minutes.... I have to force close app and reopen which defeats the purpose of having sound if I am constantly looking at the app to get the sound working....
