I listen to podcasts very often all day. This app is easy to use and has exposed me to new and enjoyable offerings enriching my experience. On the downside, maybe once a week it becomes nonfunctional so I have to turn off my phone to get it to work. Also most often it is not, when playing, controllable from the lock screen no matter what you do to settings for the phone or the app. Overall I’d recommend tho

Wanted to give 5, but recent bugs have caused me to switch apps

Podcasts that are available in other apps have started missing episodes. I’ve tried to delete and re-add the podcast, to no avail. Podcast was The Bike she’s, which was missing episodes 127+ on my phone. Loved this app and was a paid subscriber, but have switched to other free apps.

Tried several others and this is by far the best. No excessive options. Nice clean visuals. Several unique features that increase efficiency and improve time management. Love this app.

Switched to Overcast after the latest Apple iOS update which completely changed the apple podcast app, and I’m super happy I switched.

Latest update a step backward

The previous version was almost perfect usability wise. The latest revision doesn't add anything in fact is a step backward. Not a fan of the card metaphor. Tapping on a podcast episode no longer plays it but pops up a tiny menu with a tiny play button. The developer has obviously never tried using the latest version from a car. Update: Looks like the search feature is broken as well. Just seems to sit there and not do anything. Update: Seems like the latest version ditches the card metaphor which greatly improves usability while driving. Two thumbs up!!

I have been listening to podcasts since Apple added them to iTunes. And then used the podcast app. But recently Apple "upgraded" the app so badly that I had no idea how to use it. So I wondered if there could be a third-party app that could find my favorite podcasts and play them as easily as I used to. TAH DAH! Overcast does all that and more. It's simple, easy to understand, and even has features like Smart Speed that takes out long pauses between words. Now I can cram in even MORE casts per day. Great since I'll be going on a long plane to soon. T I thank the developer for this. Going now to buy the premium version. Not because it has features I need but because the developer deserves support!
