Better grab a cup of coffee

BirdieHandler

You’d think an app with such focus on developer resources would use some of them to speed up its loading behavior. Searching, downloading, even opening books takes so much longer than simply going the web page route using the device’s browser that I wonder why I should bother with the app.

Numerous Exceptions

Virtualadrian

There appears to be some type of inconsistency between mobile client and browser. The application surfaces numerous exceptions with the following message ’A network error occurred while trying to load information about this item.’ This behavior appears limited to a few titles. However, if that’s what you need to read, it’s immensely irritating. I’ve not had a chance to look into the issue closely, but it seems that the chapters are out of sync between desktop and mobile. If I find more, or realize the problem is with the user ;) - I’ll update the review.

Video Autoplay Disable?

No way to disable video autoplay

App constantly breaks

objectuser

It’s a great resource but the app seems to break with every update. Now I can’t get back to the place I left off in several books. I recently had to uninstall and reinstall to get the app working again. The quality control is just not good. This in addition to the unfortunate scrolling style the app uses with no option to use a page style. Overall quite an unfortunate way to access a lot of very valuable resources.

No custom email provider support

App Basher 1000 Reviews

I use gmail / not the ios built in and there is no way to configure in the application to use Gmail.I would have sent my support question via the app if they would have given me the actual name of support email account, listed in the application.

Great Reads, Platform Needs Work

Brandon.Jaus

First off, I love the content of this app and appreciate the developers who have made it a reality so... I hope the poor rating and following statements only encourage the platforms growth. My biggest complaint is how painful the transition process is between devices. I would love to pick up where I left off on my iPad when I switch to my MacBook. I'm thankful that the history seems to sync up most of the time but in the scenario provided I generally have to go searching through the book to find where I was on the other device. The irony is the highlighting seems to persist so clearly the location could likely as well. This brings me to a suggestion of something it would be really nice to see. I like to have a few books I'm consistently working through but often open up a number of other books for reference throughout the day. This result in an absolute disaster in my history. It would be nice to pin a few books to the top of the history view or very least filtering and sorting capabilities so these books don't get lost in the clutter. Obviously deleting the others is an option but then you lose visibility to the fact that you've referred the book before so it's only a half-baked remedy to an unsolved problem.

Giant waste of time.

Laggy, unpredictable, unusable at times

Eustus Thomas

Slow, freezes, not intuitive. Every day this app gets stuck on a page or a chapter and despite several force quits it’s still not loading. I’ve used this app for years on android and now iOS, it has been pretty consistently terrible- please fix it or rewrite it!
