The feature that gave Opera an edge over safari and compelled me to use it despite flaws was the ability to play YouTube music while locking my screen. With this new update (May 2018) this no longer works.

I am dropping Opera Mini it seems to have sold out to google. I do not like my world sold if I can stop it dropping any thing google is a small first step. so opera goes until I can use another search engine

I love Opera on my desktop, decided to try the mobile version on my phone for the sake of bookmarks and history. It’s only been on my phone for about 20 minutes and I’m going to delete it as soon as I finish writing this review. The newsfeed is trash and there’s no way to get rid of it. I’m not even going to bother trying to find out if the other functionality is good. Nothing could make having to see this trash every time I open my browser worthwhile.

The homepage...

I don’t know who approved of this idea for the homepage or why, because it’s the antithesis to an adblock browser if I’m seeing any ads I haven’t whitelisted. Endless amounts of news take up the majority of the space and squeezes the search engine, bookmarks and speed dial into tiny corners. When you open a new tab, it redirects to the homepage, once again hogging the screen. If this can be changed in a future update, I’ll give Opera Mini the four stars I think it deserves. It’s really good as far as adblock browsers go and has a nice, minimalist design that looks pretty good even on my old phone. It’s not particularly buggy, and even has useful features for certain sites. I’m gonna keep using it for these reasons but the homepage really needs love.

Opera mobile says it blocks YouTube Ads - we emit right to YouTube and ads played... Opera for Windows desktop works great - the mobile version is 1 star so far

Opera Mini on my iPhone 7 Plus won’t even let me sign in so I can sync with my PC Opera browser, which does let me sign in. Also on the iPhone app, when I try to enter text in a browser field, like a Google search, the text does not show up as I’m typing it, and when I press Enter or tap the “Go” icon/button, nothing happens. Terrible experience. Fix this!
